Strange happenings....
I'm here to post something that has happened to me almost for a year now..sporactically. It happened last year but we thought it had to do maybe with hypoglycemia. Anyway, "it" resurfaced again in June..sharp stabbing like gastric or intestinal pains (right in the middle of the abdomin), it takes my breath away..i start hyperventilating and I'm nauseas, vomiting foam, faint, light headed, sweaty and clammy...like cold sweats..I feel I have to lie down but with the pain I can't lie down for long nor stand up or sit up..I don't find any position comfortable - for obvious reasons. I had the Open RNY with no major complications and this occurrence is sporatic and I don't even know what triggers it as far as any specific food. I've had to go to the ER about 3 times and 2 911 calls and the pains goes away in about an hour..it just goes as mysterious as it comes. I had a CT done and no one has found anything to determine cause. I'm kinda scared cause my latest incident happened this Friday at my friends' house which was full of people and kids and the kids were even concerned as we almost made our way to the ER but just as we got there it subsided so I didn't bother wasting my time going in again with no pain. Other than Joann's situation - which sounds a bit familiar but is not the same since I don't have a siliac ring..can an adhesion cause such pain? I'd be glad to hear of any opinions of cause. I'm heading to NY for a family wedding and am hoping I don't have an episode over there. Thanks for the help!
Hugs,
Ruthy
These incidents, do they feel as though your having what has been described as a Major Heart attack? And does this pain go away as soon as you burp?
I get this and my surgeon says it's just trapped gas as we drink or eat too fast. Not noticably till hours later after we've eaten. And all I can do is move around or sit as still as possible to keep the pain from getting worst. The only difference in knowing it's now Not a Heart Attack is that there's no pain running down my arms.
I once called 911 the first time a few days after last Christmas. It happened and burped as the Med. Techs were coming in the door. I even saw a Cardiologist which never found anything wrong with my heart.
It's a Learning experience.

Thanks for your input but no. It will happen as soon as about 5 min after having eaten something but there was one instance when I don't remember eating anything immediately. The pain is right in the middle of the stomach but more so I believe in the intestinal area because I dry heave and nothing comes out..I saw try to purge and nothing but foam comes out...but all the PAIN is concentrated in the abdominal area. I've had trapped gas many times before and I know what you're describing though not as severe and I also get LOWER abdominal pain but as soon as I walk it off it starts releasing. When I had my recent incident on Friday I tried the walking and I felt the pain in my abdomin area feel worse. I tried to sit, lay down etc and nothing worked. Sometimes I can even have a bit of soda when I get that trapped gas feeling and start feeling better cause I release it by burping - but this pain is totaly different. The weird thing is that it has happened so far every month since June, twice in June. 6/20, 622, 7/16 and now 8/17. Weird! No specific food has set it off another strange thing.
And what has Dr.Overcash said of these incidents? Could it be a Hernia thats subtle and just get iritiable from time to time? My pain has happened right away but mainly it takes three to four hours later and mainly happens dyring the night after I go to bed. After eating to late.
We can only hope our body's pains never happen again,
Mike

Well, not much. I sent him a CT Scan when I went to the ER on 6/22 - he is reviewing but with his busy schedule I'm sure Im not a priority. I did see the Scan but I can't decepher it much and one of the support leader who is a nurse also saw it but can't read film so I have to wait for OC to see it. I did call him that day or rather my friend called him while I was crying in pain and she said he said that I need to get to the ER and that he was't available.."bye". So Im hoping with this latest incident he will get to reviewing the Scan sooner. I also made an appointment with a GI Doc..though not to offend anyone - I just don't trust anyone who doesn't understand what my insides are like...but at least I got a quick appt with this one GI Doc. If OC can't figure it out - I don't see how a regular GI can but I'm hoping for the best.
I do believe I was over these types of pain..it is soo scary but here is month 3 of it again...
Here's hoping for the best!!
Thanks for your response.

I know what you're talking about, but have no idea what it is, either. Through trial and error, I've discovered that if you can stand to sip, sip, sip, you can push "it" through with water. What I mean is that the pain goes away faster if you can just sip, but I warn you, it's not easy. I have NO idea what this event is, but the pain is so bad that I sweat through any and everything!!! NOT a pretty picture. I went to the ER once also, and was taken before a child because they felt I was probably having a heart attack, but it wasn't.
Well, like I said, it isn't easy. I try to sip and it's just tiny baby sips at that, while sitting on the toilet. Gross, huh? As for not being able to get comfortable, what I think you're saying is you are only trying to stay out of bone-shattering, gut wrenching pain that is beyond all human comprehension. Sound familiar? If you can get any liquid down at all, within a while you can get to where you can lay on your right side and moan until you fall asleep. I don't know what this is, but I hope it never comes back, I can tell you!
I dont know what it is, But I get that too... I get so sick, I have thought it was dumping... (even though I don't eat sugar) (and am very careful with watching my diet) and I have started taking Zantac 150 , it seems to help... we were on a trip to SC and I thought I was going to have to find a hosipital.. then after a hr or so it went away.... I dont have a ring either just lap/rny
