They increase my calcium to 4 a day. and I have to take 50,000 D a week. for 12 weeks. And after that Vitamin D 2,000. The rest of my life. I have osteopatena now very severe. I have to take boniva and Evista. I am a little discouraged. We ar moving to Florida in March and I need to find a Dr. that can help me if I have problems. We are moving to North Fort Myers.  Thanks

I am so sorry to hear about your lab problems, maybe with the increase your body will soon adjust.  The boniva and evista will definitely help hopefully.  Just keep positive and good luck on your move,,,Welcome to a state full of sunshine!!  Take care, Melanie

http://www.usbariatric.com/ Barbee, As with DS, your Malabsorbtion is even less than the RNY. You'll need to take mega-vitamins for the rest of your life. Maybe someone who lives in the Fort Myers area may suggest a Surgeon or Dietitian in that area.  Above is the Link to US Bariatrics in Fort Lauderdale  with Michael A Perez MD,, Robert T. Marema M.D and Keith Kim, M.D., 4800 NE 20 Terrace, Suite 303, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 Phone: (954) 351-7770 They seem to be the closest that are listed on ObesityHelp. Best of prayers and caring thoughts for your future, Mike

Hi Barbee, Have you checked out the DS board here on OH?  There are LOTS of very helpful, knowledgable DS'ers there would can probably offer the best advice, from your lab concerns to recommending a good DS surgeon in the Ft. Myers area.  Wish I could offer more assistance, but since I had a different surgery, I would not even attempt to speculate.  The DS'ers will be able to offer the best "board advice" to you, but of course the best general advice will come from your doctor. Best of luck to you!   ~ Terri

Dr. Kim at Celebration Health is the only experienced DS surgeon in Florida and he no longer does the surgery.  Plus he is near Orlando no where near Ft. Myers.  My DS surgeon is in Omaha and he still monitors my care through my local doctors.  What kind of specialists are you currently seeing?  Anyone can draw your labs and work with your surgeon.  Do you see an endocrinologist?
