Hi everyone,  I am now 4 days post op and FEELING it!  How on earth do you get 64 oz of fluid in your tummy???  I think I have hit 40 each day and think that I am going to float away.  By time dinner gets here, it feels like that lil 1 oz container is a whole turkey!  I am having a rough time getting the water and protein down.  I suppose that it is a good thing that we have this trusty ole G Tube for the next 5 weeks!!

Kim, welcome aboard the Post-Opters train to continue your Journey to Loserville. Now just slow down a bit. Your brand New!! Just sip the zero calorie water & other drinks till your full. There's no way you'll completely get in 2 gallons let alone one gallon. And chew chew chew till it's minced to bits before swallowing.  Will we meet you in Atlanta, Sept.8th? Mike

Mike, Thank you for the greeting!  LOL, I am still on the full liquid stage, but I try to chew anyway.  I guess that I keep looking at the paperwork from Dr. Jawad that stresses the 64 oz of water each day adn it really has me running scared right now.  Thank you for your advice.  I am trying to focus on the protein too hard too I suppose.  But, I opted for the Pro-Stat 64 Liquid, because I figured that it would be easier to take 1oz of 15 grams versus an 8 oz drink of it.   No, I am afraid that I will not be able to make it to Atlanta on Sept 8th, but I will make every effort for the next one that comes along.  I have a local support group here that I have yet to make it to before my surgery.  I need to work on that!!

Kim, Mike is so right.  Dr J does not expect you to get 64 oz down everyday when you are so new to this.  But use the g-tube, it is your friend for now.  You will learn to hate it but use it for now.  Sip,sip, sip.

As another poster stated----use the G-tube. It is your FRIEND right now. Trying to get in 64 oz of water at this point by mouth is almost impossible. Note I said almost. Some people can, I could not.
I found myself pushing protein shakes and Gatorade down that thing just to get it in and stay hydrated.

thanks guys...I wil use all of your advice wisely!  I do know that my G Tube is not fully functional just yet after talking to Kevin.  He said that my body is just beginning to catch up with me.  SO I will start the feeding and drinking though the tube.

I just picked up some Propel water to start using.  I like the taste of the Mandarin Orange and Lemon.  I am going to pour some of my liquid protein down the tube and flu**** with the Propel.

Watch the Sugar & Sodium Content of all those Drinks & Protein Shake especially the Gatorade. Also the Calorie count. Remember each Protein Shake is a Meal Replacement NOT a Snack or just another drink.

Hi Mike, I was worried about the shakes taking up too much room, that is why I opted to use the Pro-Stat 64 liquid.  I pour 1 oz every 3 hours into my G tube.  It is: • Sugar free - 30 ml(1 fluid oz) = 15 g protein and 60 calories. • is easy to administer - no mixing required, can be administered orally or via feeding tubes. • Use as Med Pass, Nourishment or Nutrition Supplement. • Greater compliance and consumption than with traditional supplements. • Hydrolyzed for rapid absorption. • Promotes tissue healing and weight stabilization. • Wheat, Lactose and Gluten Free. The Propel has 2 sugars and 5 sodium.  I figured that was better for me than the Gatorade.   All of the feed back I get is absolutely awesome, I love to get new info that is going to help me in my journey.
