Hi! I
Hi
Protein is all over, eggs, cottage cheese, cheese, soy products, I would highly suggest the every Bariatric patient read Susan Maria’s book and shop at Bariatriceating.com as well as dietdirect.com. Diet direct has puddings, snack and foods that are high in protein and most taste great! We are told not to eat at first, but for some of us we can’t drink shakes, They made me sick right form the beginning, so I ate… egs cottage cheese, regatta cheese with sauce or with s/f jam mixed in… The key is to say mostly away from Carbs…

yes,
and I only used carbs(and very little) (to help) for about the first 2 weeks...
if you get Susan Mariea's book you will find it very helpful. I still look back at it. I met both her and Teresa (aka Miss. Dolly)... they are wonderful people...

Hi Kellie! Congrats on your upcoming surgery, and welcome! I can tell you from my own personal experience that the advice that Jean gave you above is by far the BEST! I know this because she gave me this same advice when I had my surgery 9 months ago, and out of all of the advice garnered through this site and others, and support group meetings, hers remains right on target! Jean was my "mentor" before AND after my surgery, when I was literally typing away in tears of frustration (protein drink issues post op!). Listen to your body! LOL and listen to Jean!
Best of luck to you, Kellie!

I am simply speaking the truth from my heart, Jean. I'll never forget my first support group meeting at Morton Plant - you were sitting in front of me and cared enough to offer me all kinds of advice, comfort, and encouragement - I was SO apprehensive and scared - I'd just gotten my approval and was at that "freaking out" stage, and your words and actions made a huge impact. Everyone there was very nice and offerred suggestions and tips, but your**** home - I could feel honest and sincere care and encouragement from you.
THEN, post-op when I was having a particularly difficult time getting my protein in, and was feeling pretty low, you once again came to bat, and offerred very simple, LOGICAL suggestions, which I followed, and almost instantly felt better!
I won't even try to convey how much it meant to me when we talked on the phone in May just after a personal tragedy turned my family upside down. Again, you seemed to know just what to say, and I felt so much better after we talked.
We don't always get the chance to let those who have made such an impact in our lives or who touch us so deeply know that they are so very much appreciated, and this seems like a good opportunity to let you know that your kind words and actions have left a very sweet, permanent mark, and you will always have a very special place in my heart!
You're the best, and you always seem to know just what to say! Your advice has been SO helpful to me! THANK YOU (more than you know!!).
