Gastric Bypass Support Group - Palm Beach County

Hi, I have a brother who had gastric bypass a few years ago. He has transferred his addiction of food to alcohol. From researching this online, I understand how ditrimental alcohol is to a gastric bypass patient. We have done everything in our power to help him face and deal with his addiction. He is not listening. (I have even gone as far as to call his doctor and tell them everything. They sent him a certified letter and demanded he come in. He refused. He finally relented and has an appointment on the 16th to go. We are praying he keeps it.)  In the meantime, I would like to find a gastric bypass support group in the Palm Beach County area that we can attend with him. Does anyone have any information on a local support group? Thank you for your help!  

Hey Lauxier, I live in Boynton Beach and I'm 16 months post-op.  I know some of the local hospitals have support group meetings (JFK and Bethesda).  However, I attend a support group at the Renfrew Center in Deerfield Beach.  The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:45 PM.  It is a good group, pretty laid back people with different issues and backgrounds, all post-op.  The meeting is mediated by a licensed therapist who works at the bariatric department at Bethesda, great person *****ally cares and does a great job at keeping the meeting going.  If you need more info, email me though my profile here.  Good luck to your brother.
