I'm doing just fine!

Hello!  Sorry for such a delay in posting, had my gastric sleeve surgery lasy week, Tuesday the 24th in Celebrations with Dr. Kim and everything went just great!

I left the hospital the next day siping broth and tea, no nausea.  On the way home my last sip of tea got "stuck", had a "lump" in my chest the rest of the evening.  Nothing much helped - walking, tryiing to burb, got the "foamies".  Everything just made it worse - my liquid pain medicine & warm tea.  finally was able to fall to sleep at about 8:30 pm and slept through the night. Luckily I was fine the next mornng, but still very cautious.  Finally tried some purees Friday evening, about 1 oz.  I got about 2 ozs. down last night, a week after surgery.  And I also think my swelling must of gone down yesterday afternoon as I was able to drink pretty good size sips last night to actually quence my thrist. I worked half day on Mon & Tues, planning on working all day today.  Boy, was it nice to go home early and do nothing! I go to Dr. Kim on Friday afternoon for my follow-up visit.  I'm not weighing untill then, but I know I've lost quite a bit - I'm already getting flabbier :) Thanks to everyone

Hi Pattilyn! Sounds like you're doing amazingly well!  I've been eager to hear from you because, since you had your surgery, I've been coming around to the idea of the sleeve, myself.  A rash of problems being posted on the lapband board led me to lurk over on the other board for awhile.  People seem so much happier with the VSG...mostly because of the quick weight loss and minimal follow-up.  Coincidentally, I had really bad stomach pains the other night and started freaking out about the idea of something silicone living inside me forever.   If you tell me it's a piece of cake, I'm definitely going to take those words to heart.  You have been absolutely right about everything so far!  :) I'm so glad everything went smoothly (except for the first night tea lump).  You sound like a model patient.  I'm probably four weeks away, but I'm looking forward to joining you on the losers bench!! Welcome back! Jen

My hubby had the VSG 13 weeks ago today. Of the 100 pounds he wanted to lose, he has already lost 57! I three months! It's insane (but in a good way).

He started with a 48" waist and now he is measuring 33". No hunger and LOTS of energy.

Wow!    that's super!  I know you both are very happy with his progress.  15 in. in his waist is amazing.  From what the NUT said, the no carb and high protein works very fast to rid the fat around the middle.  I've got to find out what works on the butt and thighs. I'm looking forward to gaining that energy.  I'm still a little weak, but since the liguids are going down pretty good I should be able to get in all my protein drinks daily pretty soon. Have a good night!

Thanks Jen! I pretty much found the same thing you are finding - sleeve vs. band!  Hopefully I'll be able to find the time tomorrow to joint down a few of my thoughts/findings as to why I chose the sleeve - hopefully that will help you!  I know it's very confusing Your time will be here before you know it. Have a good evening!

Yes, the dreaded foamies  (Ain't he cute!)  But actually once I got those out, I felt better!  It was similiar to when I would have my reflux attack in the past, food would stuck and the only way I could get relief was to burb.  If I couldn't do enough burbing on my own I would drink beer or soda and that would do the trick.  Either the back pressure was released or I'd thow the food up and be fine.  It was mainly caused by stress and/or dryness. So maybe I was a little stressed on the drive home and shouldn't of drank anything.  I almost tried the beer though! But besides that, I think everything is going just fine! See ya Friday!
