2 Week post-op Update

I am 2wks post. Feeling well. Had my VSG on July 2 and was home on July 4th. The staff at Meese-Countryside were outstanding. I went to get up and walk at 4:00 pm at doctors orders NO EXCUSES!! Well I got out of bead and alarms started to go off all over the place. Everyone came running into the room and I was just starting toward the door. It seems that the heart monotor picked up the pace of my heart. With that set off alarms. Well needless to say they would not let me walk that afternoon. That night I told my nurse I wanted to walk. So she let the desk know. I walked up and down the hall for 1 hr. At 6:00am I got up and let the nurses know that I was going for a walk. I walked so far that I walked out of the range of the heart monitor to the desk.
I finely learned how far I could go before getting out of range.

I have been on two weeks of soft i.e. Yopliy, applesauce, pudding, slimfast-low carb, Profect Protine and Ensure high protine. It has not been to bad. I went back to work for a meeting 4 day's after surgery. One week on Monday I went back to full work. Still hurting but not taking the pain meds.

I go back to DR. Small on Thursday 19th for a post op check up. The problems I have now is my drain is still leaking. A couple of areas where the stomach was removed hurt to the touch. I will Have hime look at them.

I did not want to get on a scale til my first month, But I knew there would be questions from my church group. I am down 15#. I pray every day to continue this downward trend.

With Randy In MY Prayers,

Welcome to the losers bench Frank...and whoo-hooo on the 15 lbs lost!!  Its just the beginning.  Let your body rest, you had major surgery, so do what you have to and rest, w alk, drink water and protein and vitamins.  But don't lift 15 lbs for 1 month, and leave the groceries for others to bring in, come home from work and don't over do for a bit, ok? I'm excited for you! blessings, Tami

Hi Frank, I was coming online today to send you a PM to ask how your two week was.  So now I will check back on the 19th or 20th to see what the doctor has to say.  I am so glad you are doing so well and getting back to your old life (sans too much food).   Your body does still have a lot of healing to do so don't expect too much out of it yet.  I don't know if you measured your self before surgery but if you didn't it would be a good idea to do that soon.  It sure will help when the scales start to slow down or stop for a short time. Take care friend.... Big HUGS
