Nutrition Consult
I've heard there is a neat book called WLS for Dummies, I'm serious!! But I'm not sure if they talk about nutrition.
In terms of being early out from your surgeon's care you need to check with the office since you have to follow THEIR requirements of nutrition. Typically being a post-op when you can eat "normally" (about 7-more months out) than it'sin our best interest to stick to proteins, drinking water, stay on the down low from carbs and exercise. Because we are creatures of habits and may cheat once in a while (or more) into the foods we're to avoid.
I say this cause Im was more compliant with staying away from foods I shouldn't in the early months and maybe up to one year but then now almost at 3 years I cheat a bit more than I do and do get sick quite often (I know that's my punishment). Sorry we're human!
Wish you the best of luck!

You should follow the Nutrition Program what your Surgeon puts you on bothe Pre & Post-op.
But the books I've followed are "WeightLoss Surgery for Dummies" & "The Success Habits of Weight-Loss Surgery Patients"

You will get plenty of written information from Dr. Jawad's office as the time draws near, but the best information on how to eat is found on BariatricEating.com's message board in my opinion. A higher protein, lower carb way to eat really works great post-op. Carbs that are complex like veggies and fruit are fine once you get that far, but the white carbs like sugar, bread, pasta, rice and potatoes should just be avoided for life. They are nutritionally poor and only make you hungrier faster.
I agree with Jan 100%. I still avoid the white carbs and have never had sugar since surgery...opps had regular apple sauce post opby mistake and dumped horribly. We have to realize these changes are for life....and that its good that its that way, because we need to have those restrictions to keep us from going back to what we once were. Its a healthier way to eat too!
