Okay You all.  My husband is scheduled with an interview with both  Collier County and the City of Naples on Friday the 13th. Can anyone tell me which is the most stable without the prelude of layoffs? and buget cuts I'd really appriciage it.

My hubby is interview in with Collier Cty and the City of Naples Different positions.. I guess I need a support group down there. Things are a mess here in Pa. Liz

Sorry. I don't have any info about those specific entities.  Generally, the county governments in Florida are bigger, with bigger budgets and more revenue from property taxes.  But the City of Naples is quite affluent, so they're probably pretty stable.

Hi Liz, First, with the new legislation passed by the state that mandates property tax cuts, the county has already begun to discuss hiring freezes, reduced spending, etc. That said, one of their principal sources of income is building permits and construction. The City of Naples has no fears regarding the effect of property tax cuts, etc. It is a small, wealthy community who have had no real record of layoffs ever. I know this is not a direct opinion one way or the other -- however either organization should be pretty much a safe bet since your hubby is on the money in rather than money out side of the equation. Does he want to stay with us?

Hey there Liz! I have to agree with Marco Island Mamasita!!! Both are pretty stable. This area here is not affected as much and in his line of work he should be fine. If I were him I'd look to see which is providing a more stable retirement plan, benefits. FGCU is an incredible up and coming university.  Let me know when you're down. I'm in the middle of MERGER MANIA!!! My bank is merging with REGIONS Bank and conversion is on FRI 13th.... Maybe we can have a little reunion of sorts! Glen told me he spoke with you about relo! Let me know how I can help! Barbi PS: You have an in in the banking industry once you're here plus I can help with your mortgage needs too!!!! :-)
