I posted this on my blog so feel free to read it there. I know this is minor, but it still hurts. Please keep me in prayers.
It's a great day to be alive.

It took me two years of researching to decide to have the RNY then two years of changing Primary's to get one who was WLS Friendly. And another year of The Doctor Supervised Diet when they Refused to use my three years of Weigh****chers Records because my doctors didn't record anything in my Medical Records as of doing any type of Diet plan for those three years even though we talked about it every time. This is where your Patience is tested! As you need to make sure your Primary Doctor is noting your attempts Monthly for the next year in your Medical Records. Afer each visit get a Copy of what was written up for your records at home. And if nothing has been Recorded, INSIST that something of your diet is placed in your records for that visit. You can't even miss one month or you'll need to start over. It's also a good practice to start getting copies of all of your Blood Labs from now on to compare from the last Labs as to how your doing. Good Luck, as we've or most have been where your at, Mike

Wendygail, Mike is so right in what he said.  Please don't give up if this is what you want.  This whole process does challenge your patience.  I had my ups and downs going through the approval process.  I had to change primary care doctors two different times.  One was not supportive of wls, and the second who helped me get started left the area.  I did 10 months of Dr. Supervised diet, I was afraid to stop at 6.  I kept going until I knew I was approved because I was getting different answers from Humana, some said 6 months, some said as much as 18months.  I was also denied on my first attempt and it took 3 months to get that overturned.   So be persistant and don't give up.  This is the best thing I have done for myself.  I have gone from 260 lbs (day of surgery) to 143 - 144 lbs today.  It has been an amazing journey and I am not quite a year out.  Losing the weight also allowed me to have my knee replaced which I am almost completely recovered from.  So it was a hard fight but very worth the fight. Take care and I wish you all the best.

THE SYSTEM REALLY SUCKS DOESN'T IT? THEY WANT U TO BE ON A DIET FOR A YEAR FOR APPROVAL, GIVE ME A BREAK, WE'VE ALL BEEN ON A LIFETIME OF DIETS, I DIDN'T GET APPROVED SO HAD I TO SELF PAY BUT TO ME IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY (OR SHOULD I SAY THOUSANDS!!). MEANWHILE WE ARE NOW LOOKING AT GETTING NEW HEALTH INSURANCE AND HAVE TO FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL ACCEPT ME AS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION FUNNY ISN'T IT, I HAD THIS "PRE-EXISTING CONDITION" DONE TO SAVE MY LIFE. I AM SURE THERE IS SOMEBODY AT THE TOP OF THE HEALTH INSURANCE WORLD WHO HAS NEVER HAD A WEIGHT PROBLEM OR FOOD ADDICTION IN THEIR LIFE. WOW IT FEELS GOOD TO VENT HANG IN THERE MY FRIEND, YOU WILL HAVE THIS SURGERY DONE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER AS GD IS LOOKING OUT FOR U. STAY POSITIVE AND I WISH U MUCH LUCK. TAKE CARE

I had to produce 5 years of weight loss documentation.  I had been going to tops and WW and I kept a log book, which I copied and gave to my doctor to put in  his records, which he included with his second letter saying he felt it was the best interestest for my life, life threatening.  Just take a breath and think, do you have records somewhere you can copy?  Don't give up, trust that at the right time God will open the door for you! hugs, Tami

Think hard about any doctor who may have recorded your weight - OB/GYN? Cardiologist? Heck, my podiatrist weighed me in at visits (especially after I broke two bones in my left foot due to my weight).

You can do it. Take a deep breath and don't give up. You are worth fighting for!! Don't let the Wookie win.

Hang in there.  I had similar problems.  I was denied and needed at least 6 months doctor supervised diet information.  I worked with my doctor to get the information required and by the time I submitted to my insurance they had stopped covering the WLS.  I was so angry, but two years later God made it possible for me to finance the surgery on my own.  Just remember where there is a will there is a way.  Good Luck.
Thank you God for this wonderful opportunity
