Recommendation for Bariatric surgeon
Hi Margaret,
First and foremost, I am a 2.5 year post-op of Dr. Keith Kim at US Bariatric Orlando. For the last 1.5 years I have been on his staff as well (I am the patient concierge, I work mostly with Medicare and self pay patients). I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kim.
My husband had the sleeve gastrectomy with Dr. Robert Marema at US Bariatric, too. Dr. Marema practices out of our new St Augustine office. And as you read from Luvitsunny, we also have an office in Ft Lauderdale.
All three US Bariatric doctors are Centers of Excellence certified.
If you need more information on USB, I can be reached at 407.303.4574.
HTH,
Kristen

HI there! Ask anyone their doctor is the best whether from personal experience or surgical experience. Take all the information and do some research. After that she will have to choose who she thinks is the best for her. My surgeon is Dr. William Overcash in Ocala, FL (352) 368-6868. He is one of the top 5 Docs in Florida according to some natonal surveys. (Opinions will differ of course). He is now a Center of Excellence certified doctor, and in addition he is the ONLY doc in Florida now practicing a new procedure called the Stomaphyx (I'm sure in time the others will get involved in learning this procedure.)
He is a doc who is a excellent surgeon in handling high risk RNY procedures but he won't hold your hand either after surgery. He is tough and lots of his patients get upset about that but that is exactly what we need because we have developed bad habits and having surgery is not a cure all. He is there to try to change our bad habits and emotional issues so that we don't have to go through surgery again....and yet some are because this stomaphyx procedure is considered an endoscopic revision of the surgery and his patients are from all over FL. He dishes tough love and I know that he has a higher percentage of patients who maintain their weight loss 4-5 years out of surgery.
As I said - do the research of the docs recommended and then she'll be able to make a more INFORMED choice.
Best of luck to her.
