Hello ladies and gents, well, I've tried everything I had available to me that has been mentioned in past WLS finance options, been turned down, dont own a home and have lousey credit. Been trying to get this surgery since 2001 and haven't (obviously) been  approved yet!!! Either its one glitch or another, or specific refusal or denial of any weight management services. HELP!!! I'm dying here! Literally!

ms.Smith have you applied or are you on Social Security, with or without Disability? Have you've also been to any of the Surgeon's WLS Seminars in the Tampa Bay area? Also you may want to fill in your OH Profile in more detail of where you've been and what you've done so that we may understand your plight more fully. To then suggest more clearly. Mike

Hello,

I have met several patients in the same boat. They have had success asking a trusted friend or family member to apply for the loan for them, or even co-sign. Then the patient paid off the loan.

Do you have insurance? Medicare?

Have you tried Vocational Rehabilitation?  It is a state agency tasked with helping people overcome barriers to getting or keeping a job.  They make folks jump through lots of hoops but they have been known to pay for surgery.

I was going to say the same thing as the post before me. Try Vocational Rehab. they pretty much require the same thing as most insurance companies, a year long diet, pcp letter, psych eval, labs, etc....the only thing thats different is that you have to have a denial letter from your insurance company and proof that you have exhausted all appeals.  If you meet all of their criteria and their doctors approve you, Vocational Rehab will sponsor your surgery. They will also pay the fees for any labs, etc that they require. They can also pay whatever fees are required for a year long diet like weigh****chers dues, etc. And you do not have to go to a physician each month on the diet.  Message me if you need any information, i just recieved a packet of info from them but ended up not using yet because i have not gotten a denial from the insurance company... Good Luck
