At WITS end....

My heart aches for my 21 yo son. Today he went to see his PCP and it looks like he'**** rock bottom. The dr couldn't weigh him because he exceeds the weight limits. So today my baby was lashing out at the world, he's hurting, and it looks like he'**** rock bottom. I am helping him as best as I can but continues to say to me " but you don't understand".  I may not understand what it's like to be an obese 20 y.o. man, but I do understand the pain.  I am not pushing him to have the surgery he needs to come to that conclusion after researching for himself, but he's scared and he's reacting by freakin out.  I have searched on this forum for 20something yo men - apparently this is a non existant group/sub culture within OH. Are there not any men in their 20's who come to OH? WOMEN! a ton - but he needs another man to share his fears, etc.... I'm desperate and posting out there - if you know someone fitting this age group - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put them in contact with me.  DESPERATE MOMMA BEAR!!! Barbi

How about the Men's forum here at OH? I would imagine it is a mix of ages, but Dx is there and I'm told that it is a very supportive board.

Hi Barbie, Thought I check out the Florida forum. I haven't looked at it in a while and I saw your post. I am so sorry to see him going through this. He is much too young to have to suffer this way. Hey Liz! You're so right - seeing our Children hurt is the worst thing a parent can go through. He's doing a little better this week. He's stopped drinking sodas, and beer. He's now reading labels like a pro.  BUT - he's still miserable. says he's always hungry....Right now his mind has a firm grip.  Today I introduced him to Sushi and he enjoyed it. I''m trying to get him to eat, not stop eating. Happy 4th and I hope you and yours are @ enjoying the 4th Philly style!!!!!
