Anyone know of a personal trainer in the Miami area - that deals with bariatic patients?  I am looking to find one in the Kendall area? Thanks.

Why not see if your PCP can give you a referral for a couple of sessions with a physical therapist.  The PT could design a fitness plan for you that would take into account any current medical problems and could possibly prevent problems.  As we lose weight many times our center of gravity is effect which in turn effects the way we stand and the way we walk.  I have been having back pain since surgery and the PT has layed out a plan to strengthen my core -- while at the same time saving my knees and preventing further injury to my back.  I love it and I am doing great.  No it is not a hard core work out -- but it has improved my flexibility and my energy level is much better.  But then at my current level of fitness a hard core work-out would not be appropriate. Hi there...just wanted to tell ya that after I had my RNY surgery I had to wait 2 months to get clearance to do training with a personal trainer and any harder workouts than walking. Get clearnace from your surgeon's office before doing any exercise. You may want to wait til you're pretty much healed from surgery - saying that - I had informed my PT what I had done (since I knew him and had sessions before surgery) so he was careful and if at any time I felt any discomfort he would stop (which I had none). But you know your limitations when you feel pain and when you know that you can't do a certain exercise. They are there to help but I believe that a "regular" PT would be just fine..of course nothing wrong either IF you find someone that is familiar with bariatrics. Best of luck to you.
