I'm in a bad place today
Today is the first day I'm honest to goodness feeling discouraged. I'm so weepy too. It's pretty pathetic. I updated my blog with what's going on, but in a nutshell....I don't understand why my scale hasn't budged, nor have my measurements. I am getting in 600-700 calories a day. 50% protein, 10% fats, 30% calories. I am logging everything I eat. I am walking everyday. I know we all lost at our own rate, but how can the scale not even move half a pound in ten days when I am probably only absorbing 400 of those 600 calories. I went into more detail in my blog. But sad thing is, there's no "giving up". I've done all I can do. The only other thing I can do is not eat (which I wouldn't consider doing). I'm just saying, I'm so discouraged because I've done EVERYTHING I can, including surgery. I don't get it!

Please be gentle with yourself and step away from the scale. You know you are doing all the right things and the loses will start again. Sometimes the body just takes a little break. I agree with the others that you may need to increase your food intake some so your body does not send out the signal that it is starving. Sometimes just a couple of days of eating a higher calorie diet or a few more carbs will shake things up a bit.
As to you being weepy. My goodness you are not so far out from surgery. Your body is still reeling from the anesthesia -- plus as you lose weight all those hormones that are stored in the fat cells are released. It just makes sense that along about now you might be feeling a little down. If these feelings continue or get worse please speak to your surgeon or PCP, you may need medication for a short while just until you get over all of the changes made to your system.
Please take care of yourself.

Hey Marney, After getitng on the scale at home 5 days after surgery and seeing a 7 pound gain, I had Troy put the scale on top of the fridge! I didn't step on it again and waited until my post op appointment with my doctor to see what I weighed. Also, everyone's body is different after surgery and I imagine that some people lose the IV fluids at a different pace. I probably lost mine quicker because my vein blew out the morning of the second day and it was removed by the afternoon. For those with their IVs in longer, it probably takes longer to lose that fluid. What about fluid - are you getting in 80 oz of fluid a day? That definitely helps flush stuff out and keeps the body from retaining water. Don't get discouraged - you are not doing anything wrong so the loss will come. That said, never be afraid to "bother" your surgeon with any questions - we paid them a sh*t ton of cash for this operation! Make 'em earn their dough! LOL!
