Need a PCP in Pensacola

Anyone know of a primary care physician in the Pensacola area that is good about getting pre-authorization from insurance companies? I am new to the area and I just found out that after my 90 days probation, I can get insurance through my job and they will cover the surgery. I just need to get things going with a primary so they can get the pre-authorization. Thanks!!!

Misha- Which insurance will you be getting?  Have you a surgeon in mind?  If you have a surgeon in mind why not ask his/her staff for a recommendation.  They would know the PCP's that are helpful and knowledgeable about the process.  But a lot of this will depend on which insurance you have and whether it is a HMO or PPO or more traditional type plan. It is going to be Blue Cross of California. I've decided to go to Dr. Lord at Sacred Heart here in Pensacola. I never really thought about asking them. I don't even know which type of insurance it is. It won't be in effect until August 1, which is the next start after my 90 days. Thank you very much for the info. Misha

Thank you. I am so looking forward to this journey. I'm tired of being miserable and hurting so much to where I can't even do any exercise. It's stressful!! Misha

Misha I had DS surgery about 10 months ago and I am down 126lbs and still losing.  I cannot tell you how much better I feel and how much easier it is to exercise and get around.  Just keep the faith and it will happen for you. Red

Hi Misha, I live in Pensacola and am 15 days and a wake-up from my surgery on 06-21-07 with Dr Lord.  I am soooooo excited!    I think asking Dr Lord's office for suggestions is a good idea. If you know the insurance carrier maybe you can call carrier and ask them for references or go online. I am sure Dr Lords staff will be able to help you with some suggestions too. They have been very helpful to me.   They always respond. They have a monthly support group too on the first Tuesday of every month (which was tonight) and you can also ask people there.    It is 6:00 in the Greenhut auditorium. Jan the office manager runs the meetings and she is absolutely super! The whole staff is super as far as I am concerned.   I have Tricare so my PCM is at the Navy hospital. Let me know how things go.
