I go for my pre-op tomorrow and hubby is going with me...what cn I expect from the visit....I know this is stupid and unnecessary but I do NOT want my husband to know how much I weigh!!! Will he need to be in the room during the weighing part of it???I know its dumb, I mean he KNOWS he is married  to a big girl and it has not even been an issue but the actual number is a little daunting for even me to hear and I have been dragging it around for years! Anybody else make hubby sit outside for the weigh-in and come into the room later?  Toni

Toni,  Tomorrow is going to be an all day thing!  It will take to late afternoon till you are done!  If you are doing the pre op diet bring your lunch!  I ended up eating popcorn chicken at KFC.  You have very limited time to get from DR office to hospital to get all the stuff done there!   One of the big things is they want your other half to be with you at all times on the pre op day but I'm sure if you ask them to keep it on the QT they will.   Good luck and remember you will have a lot to take in tomorrow in the infromation area.  On the other post you put in there.  There are several hotels around the hospital ask the office and they will tell you the one most people stay at!

I just saw the words "popcorn chicken" and wanted to cry !!! I am on the preop diet so I guess it will be a delicious Slimfast for me.....gag! I. I have been having the strangest craving for plain old tuna fish.....don't understand why I can have SF pudding as a snack but no tuna...tuna has no carbs or sugar either.....I am excited about tomorrow and redy to get more info and hope all the preop testing goes okay..I have this fear that something will turn up wrong nd it will be postponed! I will be sure to tell the nurse to keep it on the quiet! Thanks! Toni

Basically they want you to be as empty as you can be.  No digestible foods.  Like it was stated, bring snacks.  It is a long long all day event.  They are all informative and some of it you  have already heard.  Doc J will come out to talk as well.  I wish you lots of luck!  Come over and visit us on Doc J's forum!  We would love to have you!!!!! As for hubby being with you, mine had to work so I took my dad.  Another Doc J patient.  he had his RNY 11/06.  I had him in the room during a weigh in.

Why can't you have tuna??  The pre-op diet is 2 shakes and one high protein meal per day!

Toni- You have a right to privacy and confidentiality.  The staff at the doctors office should respect your wishes and if they do not -- I would be looking for a new surgeon.  We have laws to protect us from unauthorized disclosure of our medical information -- that includes disclosure to your husband.
