I had my surgery on May 9th and I'm going crazy being home. I have all this time on my hands and all I do is think about bills and how we are going to make it through the next six weeks. I thought I was prepared financially but obviously not. I not I have to think positively but its hard. Also, because I had my surgery in tampa and live in kissimmee its hard to get to a support group so I need to find one closer to home.

Denise, I think they have one in ORLANDO? But as far as being home from the RNY I had my surgery on July 27,2006 and was back to work on August 09,2006. I do office work so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Check and see! Because I was in the same boat as you I had to go back to work so I could pay bills. Hug's Jeannie

Thanks for the message and I appreciate the hugs. Did you have to get the ok to return to work from your surgeon or from your PCP? I ask because I live far from my surgeon and I am under the care of my PCP for monthly follow up and I don't see my surgeon until the fourth week post op. Lots of hugs thanks Denise

Hello Denise, I also seen my PCP monthly as well because my surgeon is in Alabama, and he only seen me up until I was 6 months post opp. See I was a cash pay and he did not see you for the full year. But my PCP has been wonderful with all of my follow-ups. But I was able to get them to fax a work release for me to my job. Then my PCP said that I was fine I just had to be on light duty and not bending and doing a lot of heavy lifting for 6 months. That worked out really well. If you have any more questions I will try to help in any way that I can. Hug's Jeannie

I haven't had surgery yet - I'm scheduled for May 39th at Florida hospital at Celebration. The support group there meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. I don't know if it is exclusively patients there - you may want to call and find out. I am also paying out of pocket and know it is going to be difficult being on a teacher's salary and raising a daughter. Good Luck!

Hi Denise! I live in St. Cloud but work in Kissimmee. My RNY is scheduled on June 6th in Ocala. I have also been wondering about a support group closer to Kissimmee. My surgery was postponed in March, but my Dr. said that most of his patients return to work in two weeks. I hope we both find a support group. GOOD LUCK!
