Any support groups in Brevard County? Specifically, North Brevard?
Yeah, I am at the point of deciding who I am going t use... I started with Dr. Beltre and then found out my insurance is not going to pay... so am self pay. I then checked out Dr. Kim US Bariatrics, and am havign to decide. Who are you (or did you) use?.
I sure wish there was some support group closer too... THAT is what I am more concerned about - not the surgery, but AFTER.
Dr Marema was awesome. I don't know Dr Kim personally, but when I go for my appts (Dr Marema still sees me in Celebration, but doesn't do surgery there anymore), his patients have good things to say about him. I was self-pay too or partial self-pay. I paid program and surgeon fee and my insurance paid all but about $1000 of my hospitalization.
When I went for my pre-op appt, I was there all day. We had a nutrition class and met with the exercise physiologist and had our metabolism tested. I left with a manual that answered alot of questions. After my surgery I was concerned with the amount of wound drainage, so I called the doctor's office after hours and he called me right back. The doctor's visits are covered for a year under the program fee. Every time I go see the doctor, I see the exercise guy for a metabolism test and the nutrttionist for a consult. They send me emails to remind me of support group meetings and they put out a newsletter. Your first month's vitamins are included in fee. So, yes you could say that I am impressed with their program and with Dr Marema's skill. I had very little pain after surgery.
Good luck choosing a surgeon.
Elizabeth
