Nutritionist Anyone ????

I am getting soooo excited ! I went and had my blood work done Friday, I have an appointment for my psych eval on May 2nd and then I just have to get my nutritional evaluation and I am ready to schedule my surgery since I have insurance approval! Does anyone have a nutritionist they can recommend? I love in Macclenny Florida....close to Jacksonville. I have checked with Diatrician and may use them for a phone consult but didn't know if anyone could recommend someone I could see in person? Also, what is this visit about...is it telling you things that you need to eat or evaluating what you have done in the past, etc, or what? Has anyone done one over the phone...if so how does that work? Thanks! Toni

Toni, I scheduled the over the phone for my eval. Were you at Dr J on Friday morning. I was the third person to go in and I wanted to see if we met or not. Anyway, I cannot help with this but am interested in knowing what everyone says. I have everything on schedule except the psy eval and am having problems getting into someone fast. Except for that everything should be done by May 4th. My insurance is not requiring alot. Sandy W

Hi Toni, Is your appointment with Jennifer?? If it is then she usually does a little of both. She goes over your eating habits in the past and what your eating habits will be after surgery. I didn't have my appointment with her over the phone but my husband did. They were on the phone for probably about an hour, and she'll send you a bunch of stuff through the mail. At least that's what she did with my husband. It also depends on which surgery you're having. Jennifer is really cool and a nice person, you're in good hands with her. Hey Toni, I did do the over the phone appointment with Jennifer and it went well! She is great and very helpful in going through what you have work on in the past, present, and future! I was on the phone with her about 45min to an hour. She will as the person prior to me stated send you a pack of information that will give you lots of info (just like you like it). My surgical group had a staff nutitionist that I was in a group session with other pre-RNY er's. You might try calling a local hospital....they usually have nutritionist/dieticians on staff.
