I am not Kristen but I think she is referring to your operative report. This would detail exactly what was done during your original surgery. You should be able to request it through the hospital where you had your original surgery. The operatiive report will detail the exact surgery you had. the size of your pouch, your limb lengths and should detail general impressions of the surgeon during your surgery. All of this information will be vital to someone who is trying to treat you post-op. Everyone should have a copy of their operative report for their personal files. Your PCP should also have a copy along with any other specialists you see on a regular basis. In case of an emergency there may not be time to contact your surgeon or he/she may not be available to fill in the blanks about exactly what was done to you during surgery. Also, the surgery can impact other medical conditions, medication absorbtion and medication interactions. That is why it is important for the PCP and other specialists to have it. Red

Your operative report, which is a detailed surgical narrative of your preparation and surgery.

so sorry for your troubles...I 'm assuming you had the major RNY bypass...I had the Lap-band and apparently that has it's issues as well...after six months, my doctor finally admitted that my flipped port (which he has known about since my first attempt at a fill) is now inaccessible! I have to have the surgery all over again as an outpatient to 'reposition' it....I have thus shelled out so far over $20,000.00 ( my insurance would not cover it) and must now find another $3,500.00 (cash) for the fix....and sadly, I'm not losing any weight in the meantime....hope this took your mind off for a bit and good luck...I don't think I can remember ever weighing 115lbs!

Has your doctor tried to access your port under fluro? Sometimes that's all that is needed to 'see' it and turn it over to get a fill. Not sure if I've seen you on the Lapband forum or not? Seems like a lot of new faces DAILY!

Honey that's the only way (flouro) he has looked at it which is how we knew from the very beginning that it had flipped! He was late on Friday so the Xray tech decided we would amuse ourselves by turning on the machine and playing "name that organ"! I'm thinking of changing my name to "Flor"

So you think you'll be able to light up at Halloween?? I had been researching the band and was planning on it and my insurance won't cover it so I've been looking into the VSG, cutting away most of the stomach so it's shaped like a banana. No fear of erosions, future costs of fills, no slippage. But it's more expensive for the surgery but I guess if you guess at all of the future fills and stuff it'll be the same amount in the long run. If I had insurance to cover it, I'd be on the band-wagon already!!

Sorry to hear about the flipped port. If he has known about it all this time, why is he just NOW telling you that? And why did he admit it now, I'm wondering? Looks like he should have to accept some of that responsibility -- even though I'm sure that's something that's in the fine print that is a risk you have to just accept. That's a shame. What's your plan to fix it?

I researched both the RNY and the Lapband prior to my surgery...I have/had several risk factors as I started out at 430lbs...now 390lbs...blood clots etc and the RNY was just too dangerous for me ...as it happens, I ended up with a massive blood clot in my arm from the IV of all things! Anyhoo, Lap-band if it sits right works well - to his credit, I have yet to have one single pain or related discomfort- the darn port just flipped! His answer will be to redo the surgery outpatient - no charge from him but he doesn't own the hospital or anesthesiology - so ...if I want a sterile environment and not to be clubbed into unconciousness... I have to come up with $3300.00 cash and get it done! For the record, he accepts no responsibility whatsoever for this...isn't that right Kristen? Oh well, I'm going to insist he restitch it with waxed dental floss wrapped around my sternum and my left leg! I appreciate all the input tho' and all your good feelings

Hi! I am new here. I am scheduled for RNY on June 6th with Dr. Overcash. I am so sorry for all your problems and it makes me a little scared. Just wondering..........did he say he'd do a reversal? Also, could someone tell me what "lanugo" is?
