REVERSAL, ANYONE?...

i had gastric bypass 10mos ago. i weighed 238-sz 18/20 pre-op & am now down to 119-sz/0. i don't want to be this thin. i've been dx'ed bulemic (although my puking is not voluntary) and anorexic (although i do not want to be this thin and am always eating) since my surgery. dr overcash in ocala performed my surgery. i see him tomorrow afternoon and plan to ask him to do a reversal on me. i know they're not easy & i know it's unlikely he'll step up & do it, as his "numbers" will change. does anyone know ANYONE in fl who does the reversal procedure? i am desperate here. i am wasting away, i have vitamin deficiency, anemia, pancreatitis, anorexia, bulemia, lanugo, constant nausea, have lost half my hair, have been dx'ed bipolar, and all of this since the surgery. i'm wiped out & need someone to help me undo what i've done to my insides. ~k

Good Luck but I've never heard of anyone having this reversed. Surely insurance will not pay for it. You may need to talk with a Bariatric Nutritionist to get to where you'll be satisfied.

my insurance will pay for it since reversing the operation is the only chance i have for potential weight gain. i've tried stretching my pouch out with carbonated sodas, eating high calorie foods, everything you can think of...still, i lose on a daily basis. just a month ago, i weighed 125, and am down another 6 lbs. all insurance requires is my pcp dr & my surgeon to profess it as life saving & they'll cover it 100%. ~k

I am so sorry you are having all of these problems. If Dr. Overcash will not do a take down then see if he can do a revision of your surgery. If he cannot or will not then call around and find a surgeon experienced in revisions. When it comes to something like this you need to have a very experienced surgeon as revisions and take downs can be much more difficult surgeries than the original surgery. Good luck- Red

I lost fast and too much.....at one year post op I had lost over 1/2 of me. I weighed 230#. I'm 5'5" and at one yr post op and barely over 110#, I was skin and bones. It was scary .... really scary. When I talked to my surgeon he added two more snacks of carbs to my diet plan and wanted me to reduce my exercise (I was walking 6 mi. a day and riding my bike 15 mi. three times a week). I think I was getting anorexia. He kept reassuring me that my body would reach a weight and I would start gaining some....he was right. I am three years and four months post op and still below his projected goal of 134 but thankfully I did gain. I t was rather funny in the clothes....I ended up going to Old Navy and getting a girls size 12 in my shirts. 0's that aren't petites are terribly hard to find. I didn't have the anemia or pancreatitis but I did have a lot of nausea and vomiting ****il I got my gall bladder out a 2 yrs later), I had the lanugo and hair loss. I really hope you find some answers.

Dr. Marema at US Bariatric Orlando and US Bariatric St Augustine is a very experienced revision surgeon. You will need an upper GI and op report for a consult. Let me know if you need assistance with scheduling. My thoughts are with you! Kristen

Op such as in Pre-op & Post-op means Operative like in surgery
