I have been battling with my insurance for the past 2 years to get approved for RNY. I have BCBS/IL. I just filed with them once again and they have once again denied me. Last year sometime someone posted a link to website that had all kinds of form letters, tips, etc... of things to provide to the insurance company. Does anyone know this website, where it is, etc...??? Please, please, please help! I am so frustrated and tired of battling this with the insurance company. Any and all advice is appreciated at this point. I have now developed diabetes in addition to my previous problems, sleep apnea, heel spurs, female problems, swelling so bad I can't wear but one pair of shoes, depression, severe back pain, persistant diahrrea and the list goes on and on.... And the insurance STILL WILL NOT APPROVE! HELP!!!!

Hi Tanya, Do you have a complete exclusion, an "exclusion unless medically necessary" or do you have a benefit that is actually being denied? Your answer will determine my advice. Hang in there!! Kristen

I do not have an exclusion, just the benefit that is being denied.

If you feel that you have completed all of the stated requirements (including validity periods for tests, diets, etc.), you may want to contact obesitylaw.com. Have you completed a first or second-level appeal? Kristen

Thank you so much! I am going to look at your profile now. I am desparate for any help I can get! My medical doctor is behind me 10,000% and is willing to do everything he can to help as well. I thought maybe he should revise his letter to them a bit...I don't know...

What is the stated reason for the denial?

The insurance is not giving me specifics. They simply send me a denial and include as the reason the "form letter response" which is simply a regurgitation of the requirements...which I have provided everything on the list. Every time I contact them to find out what I am missing they simply read the "letter" to me! HELP!
