Supplements with Dr Jawad..

I would love to see a list of what vitamins/supplements that Dr Jawad's patients are on. I also wanted to thank you all so much for all the answers and support that I get here. I am someone who wants to know every single nitty gritty detail and you all have been an incredible resource for me! Thanks! Toni

Toni, I am the same way. I want to know it all and I wanted it before hand as well. Here is the list you are looking for. Iron 150mg elemental iron per day, B12 1000 mcg (Sublingual once a week or injectable onece a month), Multi-Vitamin (MUST HAVE 5-10 or more Thiamin) once per day, Calcium 1000 mg per day (can take 2 tums a day), and Protein 60 to 80 gms per day. I was able to find everything but the Iron. I did buy it from Dr J. office for $30 and it is about a month and a half supply. Another of his post op pts. gave me information on a web site (http://www.bariatricadvantage.com) where they get a deal buy 2mo and get one free but I didn't know a lot so went with what they told me to go with. You will not be able to take any of these post op till you see the Dr 1wk after surgery but I had them all and was ready when they gave me the go ahead! We sound very much alike. I am only 1 1/2 week out post op and will look forward to talk with you. If there are any question I can help you with let me know! I am in Orlando just fyi. Pam

Thanks so much, that is just the info I wanted. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who is "info hungry"...I was feeling a little like a freak! I just lwant to be prepared and I think getting all my little ducks in a row is my way of dealing with the stress.....I guess it's better than eating a bag of chips and salsa, huh? You may rescind the offer to answer any questions as I have a million! I am just ready to get this all over with before I work myself into preperation frenzy! I am already attacking my pantry and freezer trying to get all the forbidden goodies gone..I also have a list of all the food that I am going to cook ahead of time for the family, and I am arranging my clothes in my closet by size so I can wear and get rid of in order.....a little too much, huh? The funny thing is that this is SO against my character...I am the one usually up until 4AM before we leave on vacation washing my clothes so I can pack! Hi Toni, Sandy and Pam, I am also one of Dr. J's patients. I had my first wls with him back in July of 05. I just wanted to let you guys know that there is a patient forum on here for Dr. J's patients. If you look to the left of the page towards the bottom it says other message boards and just click on the link. Dr. J is great, he did both of my surgeries and my hubby's also!! He is a LIFE Saver!! And Kevin is just absolutley wonderful!! I hope to meet you all at the conference and Pam I am also in Orlando and another one of Dr. J's patients and I will be there so hopefully we can all meet up!! Hey, girls! I would love to join your bunch. I am just going to see dr j tomorrow and have been on this board soaking up as much info as I can. I have a real need to know everything and go over it several times before I can make this life changing decision. I know I have made it but have a freak out once in a while. What are the concerns for open vs lap? What are the pros and cons on lapband vs bypass? Will this all be answered for me tomorrow? Who many people have really bad compliations? I know I am making my crazy tonight but I will not be able to sleep anyway. I want to start my profile as well but cannot seem to get the first sentence out. By the way I am in Spring Hill. Are you going to the conference? If so would love to meet in person. Sandy W

Sandy and Toni, I feel the more we ask the more we know the better the results! I would only go with the Lap due to the small time it takes to recover and Dr J is one of the best for it! It only took 45min to an hour for him to do my surgery and I feel great!!! I will be back to work on Wed. 4-18 and my friend and family are just shocked! I am still on liquid diet but you will find ways to make it fun! Yes I am going to the conference! I would love to meet! I live in the Orlando area so I will be driving over for the event. I am also planing on going to the Orlando Support meeting on the 23rd. Sandy they will give you all the information you will need and you will do great! Be ready to get a lot of information. Toni, it sounds like you got the information you needed, and Sandy, it was GREAT to meet you today at the seminar!! The group of about 30 people really asked terrific questions and it was fantastic to have 4 of us post-ops available to answer questions. Usually, it's just little old me!
