This is a whole new world for me! G-Tube question

Hi all I am 6 days post op and a bit suprized all is going well. I have a question about my G-tube. I have had no issues with eating my liquid diet and on a very balanced schedule. I have only used my g-tube to flush 3times a day as directed by the post op orders and just worrie that I could be hurting myself. I am just like it is a temp thing and if I can eat and keep it down should I worrie about using it. I have my post op appt on Wednesday and just thought I would put this out there to see what the thought would be on this. Thanks in advance! Pam

Pamela just follow what your surgeon has instructed to do. If you have any questions at all don't hesitate to call them. You've contracted them to take care of you and your success will give them not only satisfaction but more customers. I didn't get instructions to Flush or drain but did so anyway and everything went fine with my surgery and drain tubing. Are you coming to the OH Conference in Orlando the weekend of May 5th? Thanks for the advice Mike and I will keep it up! I see the Dr tomorrow so they will help me to know that all is well too. Yes I do plan to attend the event on 05-05. I live here in Orlando and only about 15min from the hotel. I paid for it last night so I am looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks again for the support. Pam

Hi Pam, I had the G-tube also. I never used it for anything, never needed to. I only flushed it every day a few a times a day. You are definitley not hurting yourself. Did you go to Dr. Jawad also?? He's one of the few surgeons that are left that still use the G-tube. If you can eat and drink with no problems then there are no worries!!! You're doing great!! Hang in there!! Jo Ann

Jo Ann, Thank you so much for your information. Yes I am one of Dr Jawad's newest pts and I have just not has an issue with food or drink on any kind at this point and I am at the 1 week point and they say if I was going to have one it would have happened! I go for my first post op appt tomorrow to have the staples removed and I am in shock that I have very little pain as well. I see by your profile you had your surgery last year and it is nice to see my future through others. Hope to talk to you again soon. Pam

Hi Pam, It's always nice to meet Dr. J's patients!! I don't know where in Florida you live, but do you attend his support group meetings?? They hold one here in Orlando and also one in Ocala. I am here in Orlando and I have it on my schedule to attn the Orl support meeting this month I belive it is on 04-23. I will look forward to meeting you!
