medicaid/medipass

Can anyone tell me if there is a doctor anywhere in Florida that takes Medipass with a doctor's referral for the Lap Band surgery? I've been on the phone for months trying to find a doctor. I found one in Miami, but they make you switch primary care providers to their office, they will not accept a referral. I cannot do that because of my other health issues and the fact that I live in Volusia County. I am willing to travel anywhere in the state for the surgery and the follow ups. Please help!

The surgeons at Morton Plant Hospital accept Staywell Medicaid only. However, medicaid in the state of Florida currently only pays for Gastric Bypass.

Hello all. A few years ago I thought I was going to have Bariatric Surgery ...but after going through everything necessary to make it happen, I was told the insurance I had was not going to cover it. My employer didn't opt to include weight loss in the insurance package. He was going to add it on, but months later decided against it. I'm now 200 more pounds overweight than I was to start with. I've just been approved for medicaid and in a couple days I'll find out what type. I didn't know there was more than one type until I began researching this surgery again. I live in Tampa...who accepts medicaid in or around the Tampa area? Also, does anyone else live near me?? [email protected]
