Florida Bariatric Centers of Florida
Hi all,
I am just now starting my research and have registered here. I received an email from Florida Bariatric Centers of Florida and wanted to know if anyone has any info on them? I do not see them on any of these broads.
Also what kind of info is going to be needed for the insurance co. I work for the State of Florida and do not think they will be a problem getting approval but what do I need to start preparing now before I decide on a surgeron?
Thanks Sandy in Spring Hill
Sandy start researching several Bariatric Surgeon's before deciding on just one as every Doctor has their own Program. As to requirements you'll need to check directly with your Insurance Company as every one of them also has their own requirements! Most however require a Supervised Doctor Documented Diet for a length of time. Most are 6 months but some are 18 months. This is to prove to the Insurance Companies that you'll stick with the New Lifestyle Program not really to get you to lose weight, but any lose is a good program. May I suggest you come to this years OH Conference in Orlando the weekend of May 5th. Some of the Tampa Bay Surgeon's will be represented there too.
Where does it say that these Florida Bariatric Centers of Florida is located?
And which of the WLS are you considering?
Mike
There are to be in Ocala. But they did not give an address.
I am not sure which one I am looking at. To begin with I was thinking the lapband and than after talking with several people and friends I am not sure that will work for me. I have some fears of surgery. I have had two children and only on surgery and that did not go well. At 54 I am scared of both but know I cannot continue as I am. Failed diet after another has made me bigger than I have ever been. I am only 5' 3" and 259 lb. I broke my foot in September and have not been able to walk much. It still hurts and seem like it will never heal. The foot doctor said to give it time. If that does not heal what will surgery do.
Sorry, had a petty party for myself :>)
Anyway, the info on the conference is it on the main board? I will look at it.
Sandy
Hello Sandy,
I think thats the Dr I used ..." Dr Overcash" in Ocala? I am very happy with him. Email me if you wanted to talk. [email protected]
If Florida Bariatric Centers of Florida is NOT Overcash then it's probably Dr Kim in Celebration & he's great also....I checked both of them out & ended up going with DR Overcash.
Living in Spring Hill, you have a lot of options open to you in regards to where to have your procedure done. It is important to choose a qualified laparascopic bariatric surgeon who will follow you for life as well as a hospital based bariatric program that has a good history of aftercare and support. Each of us has our preference because of the choices we made. I can recommend Morton Plant Hospital and Mease Countryside Hospital as I not only had my surgery at Morton Plant, I ended up working for the hospital system as their bariatric coordinator one year later!! If you would like info on the surgeons and the program please feel free to contact me.
