Support Idea...Or Not?
I'm not sure if there are any other forums of support. I know we have these Post Forums, and then there's the Chat Forums, which rarely talk about our Surgeries, well at least I haven't seen it yet. Is there People we can actually speak with on the phone. I mean it would be really nice to have a Buddy that's going thru the same thing as you to lean on when you really need it, you know when your having a Crisis, like wanting to go BINGE, just have someone to help you through it is all? I was just curious. I think it's a Great Idea! Is it a Bad Idea? What do you all think?
Best Regards,
Rocko~~
Rocko who did you use as your Pysch evaluation for Dr.Rehnke? If it was Dr.Baum, he requires you to get a Support Buddy who has received the Same Surgery who is at least 6 months Post-op for Phone Support. Since your going with the Lap-Band, you'll find some here on the Florida Forum. But through the Lap-Band Forum and Dr.Rehnke's Board plus the Bandster Boards (which Dr.Grossbard is on too) - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/floridabandsters/?yguid=194590074
Did you quit smoking and ask about it? One week to go.........Yahoo!!! Mike
Well, I know when you scroll up to the top you have forums and click on it and you will see "more forums" and click on that and on that you will find Lapband forum, and all sorts of forums related to surgery and post ops and food issues. OH has lots of forums, not all are very active but it's fun to surf them and read up so to speak.
You know we are all here to help you if you need us, I know early on in my postop days,,I asked all kinds of questions. No question is silly, stupid or trivial,,all important in the journey your about to have.....I was so nervous before my surgery that I would not sleep and drove my hubby crazy at night talking to him about the "what if's",,,I was a pill for sure !!!!!
I think it's a good idea. I'm a busy mom of 3 kids, so the phone might be hard to get to, but I'm always open to yahoo instant messg
I'm not always here (at my desk), but 90% of the time I'm logged in.
I'm mommie02 if anyone needs any support.
You'll have a better chance of getting me here than on the phone..LOL

Hi, Rocko. I'm a support group leader here in Jacksonville and we have an email list that you're certainly welcome to join. You email a question to the group and get input from several people with several different opinions.
If that's not just what you want, let me know. I have a guy in my group who would be happy to correspond with you and help you with any problems or questions or concerns you may have. He was banded in Nove, ber, 2005 and is down just over 100 lbs now.
Please email me and let me know if I can help you in any way. I'd be happy to stay in touch as would the man in my group who has been banded.
Hope to hear from you soon. This journey can be a bumpy road sometimes and we all need help so don't hesitate to reach out. Someone will be there to take your hand. I promise.

Hi Rocko! Support is always a great idea -- I've attended support group meetings nearly every month and I've found that when I've missed the meetings I really do "slide" a bit. I get a lot out of the support groups and it is a monthly reminder of where I have come from. Belive me it is a great idea! I'm almost 6 years out from surgery and have lost 139 pounds. I fluxuate a bit but I'm dedicated to remaiing small the rest of my life.
You've made such a great decision to have the surgery and your physician gave you a second chance at a "normal" life - please make the most of it!
If you would like to chat a bit more here's my email address -- [email protected] -- I'll be more than happy to chat with you on more of a personal basis. Carrie
I have found that (at least for my group)... the forum for your month/yr is a great place for that. I belong to the may/06 group and have found it very helpful for me.. others who are going through this with you at the same pace tend to have the same challenges and can help each other out. So give it a try
