Creatine- Yes or No??
I had RNY on 7/12/06 with Dr. Jawad and have now lost over 120 lbs. I have been going to our local Hospitals wellness center to work out now for over 5 months and things are going great. I paid a visit to my local GNC and was told that I should really be taking Creatine to aid my body in the recovery from my workouts and to maximize my workouts. I have searched all over the internet and have not been able to find anything that says that I should not take this supplement. Does anyone have any experience with this? I would appreciate any help that I can get.
I'd personally say NO. Too expensive and it claims 300 grams of Protein. Our bodies only absorb at the most 30 grams per two hours and just dumps the rest. Check out http://www.mmusa.com/ which list it for Men & Body Builders.
Your surgeon or your nutritionist is your best source of information on what you need to take. Remember generally the folks that work in these places are not nutritionists, nor medical professionals of any stripe -- they are sales people. They are trying to make the sale -- sometimes they may be on commission or there may be other incentives to sell certain products. So I would take what they say with a grain of salt. Plus what do they really know about your surgery. Even good advice given to the average person may have little relevance to you after you have had WLS.
