Can you all shed some light on how long Post Surgery my stay will be in the Hospital? I was under the impression I would maybe be able to go Home that day? Am I dreaming here? And maybe a few of you would be able to tell me what I can expect as far as {{{Pain}}} goes? And what the Doctor usually gives you for pain, if any? BTW, I'm still trying to get my Web-page up and running I did some updates, but nothing outstanding by any stretch. Thanks All -Rocko-

Hey Rocko I am 1 week post op, i had my lap-band done 03/07/07 here in Bradenton on an outpatient basis. I went in at 7:00am and was home by about 1:00pm. I'm not gonna lie to you, the worst has been gas pains that gets caught up in the shoulder and back areas. as far as any other pain, it's hasn't been all that bad ::::::::_ Invest in Gas-X and you'll be fine. Good Luck!

Hello, I'm not sure on the lap band, I has an open RNY & I was in the hospital 3 days total. I don't think with the band it would be like an out paient surgery, I believe it would be at LEAST 1 night in the hospital. I had A LOT of pain, way more than I expected. I was given an RX of oxy codone something. Sorry I can't help you out more, I don't know much about the lap band, I'm sure there are others on this board who know all about it. Did you check out the lap band forums?? Good Luck Rocko!!

Hey Rocko!!! My surgery was out patient...in by 9, out by 2,,,,of course, I was lucky number three that day, or I would have been home sooner ") They were liberal with the ~~~morphine~~~, or whatever the buzz was while I was in recovery, and sent me home with loratab liquid. I had 0 gas pains. Was pretty strict with a high protien/low carb diet one week before, and clear liquids the day before,,,nothing the day of,,,think that helped in a major way. Waking from surgery, I could hear myself saying "my heart hurts," over and over again. That is the port!!!! That is the pain that will be uncomfortable at best, for the first three days. Congrats on your upcoming surgery, and welcome!!! Love you pics !

My surgery was out patient, in at 7 am and out by 10:30 am on a Friday. Took the liquid pain medicine that day and once the following day. Back to work Tuesday morning. It was quite easy for me as I sailed through it. Now one month post-op and I've lost 30 pounds. Follow your instructions and it just happens. I also kept the positive thoughts going and the light turned on as to actual meaning of "lifestyle change". I feel fantastic and am looking forward to the rest of my journey down this path.

Rocko, have you've joined Dr.Rehnke's Support Page yet, www.obesitynomorefl.com Right now unless things have changes within the last month, You'll go in on a Tuesday receiving your Lap Banding and stay overnight for safety & to get you up and walking around. The next morning you'll be require to attend a Group Meeting, receive a Gift Basket and the Released. You'll need someone to drive you home too. Their requirement though many state they could've drove themselves home. You may want to attend the next Lap Band Support Group with Dr.Baum (one of the Pysch Doctor, Dr.Rehnke uses) on Wednesday, March 28th @ 6:30PM. In the near future Dr.Rehnke, Dr.Grossbard & Dr.Jesse are joining together to Open an Out-Patient Clinic in Tampa, FL. At this facility the Lap Banding will be done where most will go in early morning, receive their Surgery, Stablized and thus Sent home within the same day.
