The supervised diet is just one of the hoops some of the insurance company's have people jump through. I am assuming it is an insurance requirement and not something your surgeon dreamed up. You can talk to them -- but if that is the requirement then you will probably have to do it. Now, if your health is failing (and we are talking about life threatening issues) you could have your surgeon request a peer to peer review to discuss why your surgery needs to be done now. But that still may not do any good.

Melody as Red has explained unless your self pay you'll as most of us did do a Supervised Document Diet too. Is your Insurance through an Employeer or are you on some sort of Disability with Medicaid or Medicare, where you could switch to another Insurance Managed Plan? Good Luck as it took me two years once I got on Disability then another Two years to get on Medicare, then another Four months to find a WLS Friendly Primary who'd grant me the Surgery Then another he Required 6 Month Diet the Humana Gold Plus Required.
