Just got home from Hospital 2/21 RNY
I had clear liquids both last night & this morning at the hospital. After both meals I felt my stomach rumbling, now I feel like I am about to explode with so much gas, I'm uncomfortable. I am also having liquid diarrhea! I wonder if this will continue? Has anyone experienced this? I'm hungry, but I'm afraid to eat! Can anyone suggest anything that might help? Is this normal?

Hi, Diana
I'm in the process, I have only been home a week now. My surgery took place on 2/16/07 and my stomach as well was rumbling but its because of gas. I bought Maalox Max and it soothed me and it helped. Your bowel will seem like diarrhea but thats because you haven't had any solids. My bowel is still that way but its normal at this time in the process of our journey. I've felt hungry a few times but I don't put mind to it, in fact I've learned to drink broth when I get a hunger feel and believe it or not it tends to go away. DON'T EAT, follow the instructions as given by your doctor. What were your instructions for the next two weeks? Are you trying to let the gas out or are you holding? Are you walking? I will wait for your reply. Yanselli
My surgery was2/13 and the gas pain is normal. Remember they had to inflate you for the lap RNY (if that is what you had). It does subside. As for the rumbling, when you graduate to full liquids it does subside some. I also have loose bowels. Also normal. Right now all we are getting is liquid form. It will take form as we progress to soft foods. For me that will be 3/19 (when my G Tube is removed).
Congratulations on your first steps towards a healthier you!
