They think I've got an ulcer!
Hi everyone. I just came back from my 6 month check up and since I haven't been able to tolerate much food, they have scheduled me for an endoscopy next week. I was told that I have an ulcer. Has anyone had this problem and what do they do about it? How was yours treated? So far I've lost 108 pounds. I feel good about that, but I'm a bit apprehensive about the ulcer thing. Any advice?
Best regards to all,
Noreen
Noreen, congrats on the weight loss and sorry about your diagnosis of an ulcer. I have only begun my journey.
In a RNY, it is stated that ulcers do pop up in 5-15% of the people. I did find this link for you and hope it does help.

Hi Noreen,
Congrats on the weight loss. Your loss is fantastic. I developed an ulcer around 6 months after surgery. They will put you on a liquid medicine called Carfate. You take it, I believe every 4 or 6 hours. You have to make sure you separate your vitamins, because the Carafate will absorb them. The medicine is fantastic. I felt relief after a couple of doses. Make sure you take it as directed. I even got up in the middle of the night to take it.
Best wishes. Please feel free to send me an email if you want to talk.
Good Luck,
Deb
