New Florida Resident*Hudson*

Hi ya'll!!! I finally got down here from Michigan, and I am so excited to be in warm weather. I am originally from Mississippi so I know how steamy its going to get this summer,,I say bring it on. I left Michigan in 1 degree weather with -16 wind chill. I wonder what types of exercise ya'll do around here? I rarely see walkers,,see some bikers, no joggers..which I thought strange,,but I have only been here a week,,gimme time!!

Hi Alexa,,I am 40ish miles north of Tampa on the west coast. It seems nice, I have not really met my neighbors but one. There are a ton of snowbirds here in this area, most I meet are from Ohio and Michigan!! Where are you located?

Hi Melanie ~ Glad you finally made it down! So you ended up being a "neighbor"! Welcome! If you're looking for a support group, there's an excellent one at Morton Plant hospital in Clearwater. It's a drive, but well worth it. Anyway, just wanted to welcome you here - glad you found a place in Hudson! ~ Terri

Oh my gosh Terri, I was thinking of you just yesterday, we did look in the Port Richey area, gosh we looked all over, did you know we put 1100 miles on the rental car in 4 days,,,it needed an oil change when we turned it in!!! My tail bone was sore sore sore. I may look you all up..OH is the only support group I have ever been able to do since my DH works out of town some.

Welcome Melanie, to becoming a Floridian. May you enjoy it here so much that you'll only leave to go visit others as the tourist there. And no longer a Snow Bird here. Mike I also attend the Morton Plant Hospital support group as well my surgeon's group too. I have yet to get my own OH Support Group going yet but will be shortly. I've been busy help my girlfriend get her RNY Revision of which she got her Incision Staples and drain tube out today. She's lost 21 pounds already in two weeks. As I've lost another 12 pounds too. Bringing my total to 171 gone forever. Only 204 to go. But my big acheivement is I've lost 291 pounds since October 2002. The MPH Support group is planning a Picnic on Saturday April 14th and a WLS Cruise from Sept. 30th to Oct. 6th in the caribbean. Plus the Florida 2007 OH Conference has been moved to Orlando on May 5th.

Hi Melanie! Just wanted to welcome you to the Hudson area!!! I'm from Tennessee and I moved to Hudson (off of Sea Ranch Drive) on December 8 of this year! Yes...there are LOTS of snow birds here! I too am looking for a wonderful support group. I sure miss mine back home. I'm also looking for a GREAT bariatric surgeon to do follow ups with.?? Message me back and maybe we can meet up sometime. I work crazy hours and of course I work in Tampa...which in traffic makes me have to leave an hour and a half before I'm scheduled to work...but.....that's the cost of living with the Gulf of Mexico 20 feet from your back door! I am a stay at home Mother until my kids get older 8 & 10. My husband works @ Tampa International Airport. How do you like it? I read your profile, you have Chihuahuas!!! Don't have any puppies yet do ya? I don't have a landline yet but will get one soon. My cell phone is horrible with service..but definitely lets keep in touch. What part of Tenn are ya from?? Hey Melanie! I did indeed lose a whole person! Sea Ranch Drive runs off of US-19...it deadends into the Gulf! I work for Florida Metropolitan University - Online Division. (Located in Tampa) I was born in Memphis, TN where I lived until I got married and then I moved to Nashville, TN (where I lived until December 8, 2006) I then moved here to Hudson, FL! I do have chihuahuas! But no puppies...mine are all rescues...I only have 2 of them here in Florida plus 2 miniture dachshunds...my ex-hubby has 4 of the chihuahuas in Tennessee! Stay in touch!
