I'm new to this forum and I love to chat to get input in Gastric Bypass Surgery. Help!
I've gone to Dr. Rabaza group session and have my first appointment with Rabaza on March 6th, 2007. I've bee researching for a while about the GBS which my doctor had recommended me to do. I was diagnosed with diabetes type II, hypertention, and big weight problems. I'm going for my sleep apnea study on Feb. 16th and I would probably need the mask. I was weighing 304 lbs but I already lost 8. So, I'm now at 296 lbs. I'm gathering all my meds paper to take to my surgeon on March 6th.
My question is....will Avmed cover the GBS? Does anyone have Avmed HMO? I need to know what requirements to they need to forward the information to them.
Thank in advance for your support.

Well Congratulations of making the effort to start your Journey to a Healthier YOU! If you need to be on a C-Pap or Bi-Pap at least try the Nasal-Air Pillow Mask, it's tubing that only goes up your nose not covering your face. As to the Insurance it's best to call them directly as some plans have exclusions. Also you can find other Insurance info Under Forums above in Insurance Help.
I had Humana Gold Plus/Medicare at the time of my surgery (their co-pays went up this year) but now with Wellcare/Medicare (No co-pays). Good Luck, Mike
Hi Mike, thank for the information. I will keep that in mind. As to my Avmed insurance, I was told by my own PCP that they have covered it with proper medical proofs. You know like getting all the letters and specs from other doctors and so on. I 'm keeping my fingers crossed. :eyes:
As to your health, how are you doing now? and, how was it like after your surgery? How are your eating habits right now?
