I will be celebrating my one year post-op RNY February 14th and I have just starting having problems. I had a CT scan last week and it showed inflammation of the abdominnal wall. I'm really concerned because the problem is taking time to resolve and I would like to know if any one has ever heard of this?

No he hasn't. I don't know what that is so I've got to research it. He has opened up an incision to drain and now that are order some more studies. I don't think they know what is going on. Really scary to me.

Peritonitis is an inflammation of the peritoneum, the thin membrane that lines the abdominal wall and covers most of the organs of the body. Can you call back and ask if that is his diagnosis? HTH, Kristen

Interior Wall of the abdoman, it's not inside the stomach.

I know someone that had a mesh put in during her surgery and she had problems with it that sound a little like the one you are having. Another doctor removed the mesh and then she healed up fine. She had the open rny and I think the mesh was to prevent hernias. (I'm not sure about the purpose of the me****'s been awhile since this happened.) She had the mesh for four years and they had to open her up from time to time to drain it. When she moved to another state and changed doctors, that doctor wanted to remove it and that seemed to do the trick. I would ask my surgeon lots of questions. You are paying for the information and care, so go in there with a list of questions. Why did this happen? How can we prevent this from happening again? How will this affect my overall health? Squeak little wheel, squeak! Get the information that you need to take good care of yourself. Elizabeth
