Stand still in weight loss
I had RNY 11/15.06 and have lost 47 lbs however, for the last 2 1/2 weeks my weight has stayed the same. I have a protein shake in the morning, lunch and dinner. I know that 47 lbs in 2 months is great and I'm happy however, I want to find out if others have had the same problem and how to start losing again. Is this normal?
Hi Dreama,
Congrats on your weightloss thus far.
What are you eating in addition to the 3 shakes? Are you eating too few calories.....could be. What about exercise.......any? dDinking your water? These would be some of the most frequently asked questions when on a plateau.
If you are consuming an adequate amout and doing all the other things mentioned, just stick with it and the weight will start to come off again. The body takes it's own time to adjust to a major change like the RNY surgery.
Don't worry, it's normal.

Did you take your measurements before surgery? I found that when I thought my weight loss was slowing a bit, I always dropped inches. Sometimes our bodies need time to adjust so a little "rest" in the weight loss isn't unusual. Keep drinking, eating protein first and exercising and the weight will start falling off again.

At 3 weeks out I stalled. I was in a panic and called our support group leader. She told me to go on to www.fitday.com and that should help me figure out why I stalled. Sometimes your body just needs to stand by and regroup and reorganize itself. If you are taking in the proper amount of fluids and protein the WLS will work for you. You may want to increase your physical activity or exercise.
