OT: Update on my job and my son

As all of you know I sent a post early last week asking about cobra coverage, bc i was afraid I was going to lose my job after my son being ill and in the hospital for pretty much 3 weeks. Well my intuition was right...they let me go today and I am freaking out. I was pretty selfish in my post last week worrying about coverage for my surgery. The real thing I should be worrying about is ins for my children. I have ins til the end of Jan....after that I dont know what I am going to do. What if he has a relapse. I begged and pleaded but they still let me go, after all I missed work for like 3 weeks. But my son was in the HOSPITAL!!! I can see both sides...but to me, as a single mother, it is still pretty heartless!! I have no idea what I am going to do about rent and bills. I am so scared!!! I need to find a job that will provide ins coverage the 1st day of work...and that is going to be tough to find!!! If anyone can help me..I know its a long shot but still...if you know of anything, any help, I can get...please let me know!!! Thanks Dawn

Dawn, I'm afraid I can't help with a job but maybe a suggestion... I don't know how long you've worked for your employer but depending on how they worded your termination, you may be entitled to Unemployment Compensation. It wouldn't hurt to check with the Employment Security Commission in your area to see if you're eligible for compensation. If you are, that might give you a bit of breathing room.
