Hey guys!! First off I would like to start off by saying hello, I am usually a lurker. I have a very important ?? for you. I am extremely afraid that I am going to lose my job. My son has been severely ill and I have had to take pretty much the past 3 wks off and they still dont know what is wrong with him!! I am a single mother and am going through the process of trying to get approved for wls and I am afraid that if I lose my job that I will have to start back at square 1. I unfortunately havent been there long enough for fmla...so I dont know what to do. I cant afford to lose my job, especially with my being a single mom to 2 young boys (my oldest just turned 2 on 12/28 and my youngest will turn 1 on 02/20). Anyways..let me get to my question...do you know if cobra still covers the same thing as they did as if you were employed?? I just dont want to go through the whole process again..Ughh!! I am so close to being able to submit my claim to my insurance company!!! HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks to All Dawn

Hi Dawn, My friend has been on cobra for the past month. The coverage is identical as if she were still employed. Good luck to you! Deb

Yes, the Cobra is the same. No one even knows its Cobra or any different at all. I just hope you don't lose your job though!!!! The Cobra is expensive! And for other reasons - I just hope your son gets better soon and you don't lose your job! Keep us posted. Take care of YOU also!!!! Jeanne

I don't know anything about Cobra, but just wanted to wish you and your sons well. I know it is hard when you are out of work when your kids are sick. No one seems to understand that your family comes first, especially when you are a single parent. Good luck with your surgery. I hope your some is well. Take care of yourself!! Maggi

Dawn....I've been on Cobra several times before...you have the exact same coverage...but...it's usually at a much higher rate...by law the have to offer you Cobra for up to 24months...just check out what they will charge you. Good Luck!
