Popcorn
Hi Peggy,
I didn't have it until I was after six months post-op. It's a little tough to digest. I know that you had RNY, but it is one of the foods that Lap-Bands want stay clear of post-op (others include some breads, dried fruit, nuts and coconut, fried foods, and pasta).
You will also want to avoid the trans-fat laden toppings (i.e., artificial butters and cheeses) so soon post-op.
HTH,
Kristen
Popcorn was one of the foods I was very afraid of after surgery! I didn't even try it until probably about 10 months out. I have it once in a great while, it tastes like heaven and I enjoy it, but I chew it to death and don't eat very much of it. I think popcorn is one of those foods that you'll get many different opinions on, even from the doctor and nutritionist.
If you do try it, just chew it REALLY well! Good luck!
I love popcorn. I work at Target and eat it almost daily as well. Of course the high salt content swells me up the next morning. I also, chew it do death and avoid those unpopped kernals. I love movie popcorn but of course I get the dreaded diarrhea from it the next day. I do eat stuff just have to plan ahead what to expect. I am also almost 4 years out.
