Marijuana Use Post Deleted

Just wanted to say to those from the administration that deleted my post that I think it is really ridiculous that they did so. I feel like my question was a very real and serious one. I have had WLS and many other marijuana users have probably had it too. To delete the post was to deprive many of useful information that may help them! I think it is really stupid to pretend that there are not people who want the answer to my question. As a matter of fact, If I had been able to see a response that told me it was harmful it would give me a reason not to smoke. So although you may live in a world that where don't want to believe there are people who use drugs, there are many of your message board users that do live in a world called reality! This type of censorship is harmful not helpful so lighten up and stop being a prude!

First of all I wanted to hear from a doctor or a real professional not a judgmental uninformed person. Second, honey my age is none of your concern not only am I old enough but I also have two doctorate degrees, I have worked for the UN and am a leading force in the fight for Human Rights and probably out educate you both socially as well as academically by years. Go lecture your children or your husband, not me! I am here asking for help not lectures. You need not reply if all you are going to do is be self righteous.

Hi Dee, I don't recall reading in your original post that you only wanted to hear only from doctors or other professionals. I am sorry if my posts wasted your time or did not help you. You may want to discuss this issue with your surgeon, since he/she knows your surgery the best. HTH, Kristen

I totally agree with you. We post and ask questions for help and not to be judged. I was taught when I was growing up "if I don't have anything good or nice to say then don't say anything". As for your question.. I don't see what the harm would be because it is a natural substance and the only harm that I see in it is that it causes the munchies. Which is hard to control. I smoke cigs and I was told the only harm that it is causing is to my lungs nothing to do with my surgery, no I had to quit 6 weeks proir and I started back about a month out. Just long enough to give the new blood vessels time to heal me. I hope I was able to help you please feel free to ask me more if you need to. And good luck.

Hi Dee, I'm not a professional either.....but just from what I have read in the past 2 years as a post-op most Dr.'s want their patients to quit smoking cigarettes before WLS because of your health risks, and some have said smoking is an addiction like overeating. (why not get rid of all the addictions?) Some people can just put Marijuana down and walk away, but others can't, so I would call it an addiction like over eating. I'm from a family of smokers, and I'm the only one that doesn't smoke, but I was the only overweight person in my family, and I had an addiction to food..... I never judged a smoker because I know how hard it is to quit eating. The main problem I can see with Marijuana is the munchies and lack of clear judgment when high....and not to forget about the smoke in your lungs, and the damage there, and trading one addiction for another. I hope I have not said anything to make you feel I was judgmental, because I not trying to be. I'm sincere in trying to give you some things to think about.

Dee Lovely: I've been a lurker for about 3 weeks but I just want you to know that I see where you are coming from. I completely agree that your post should not have been deleted. I didn't think the post was offensive. Yes, smoking marijuana is illegal, but many do it (I actually know a doctor who smokes onece in a blue moon) and your question is enormously important not only to you but to others who do smoke either marijuana or cigarettes.

I completely agree also! Your post asked a real question! I know so many doctors, attorneys, and other professionals that smoke marijuana. I understand your question to be a question that could be very informative for many people. There is probably nothing wrong with smoking the occasional joint but if the munchies are an issue for you then you should not do it, because you could hurt yourself by overeating. I wish you luck.

I have never seen a post deleted but in this case I understand why it was done and actually it was in bad taste since Weed is ILLEGAL. We are here to better our lifes not support drug addicts and even though you smoke rather that shoot up or drop pills you are still an addict worrying about how soon afrer you can get started smoking weed. Why bother having a procedure that requires your co operation when you are going to sabatoge it. Whomever removed I sure did for the respect of the long times members here as I see you signed up on Jan 2. Maybe finding a forum that supports "IILEGAL DRUGS" will be a better forum for you. Sinncerely Mirabelle I wish you luck in what you need to do.
