finding a general doc in the tallahassee area??
i have recently moved to the area and i have gotten a cold and feel so crappy. alot od doctors won't see me since i am only 3 months out and they are just not familar with how our bodies absorb medicine now. i was wondering if there is any one in the area that can help me find a doctor that knows about how our bodies work after the surgery. please and thank you
Alicia,
Dr. Jesse Judelle is with Southern Medical Group and very supportive of WLS (he is my doc and he suggested WLS to me!). I don't know if he is taking new patients but if you can get in with him, he is wonderful and his nurse Edyie is great, too! I don't know what insurance you have but I know he takes BCBS and I think he takes CHP (he did when I worked several years ago). You can always call their office and ask if he is a provider for whatever kind you have.
You might also call Dr. Eliott Sieloff and ask his nurse, Jody, for a referral for a primary care physician. (Dr. Sieloff does RNY). I doubt if he would take you on as a patient since he didn't do your surgery, but he or Jody would probably suggest some WLS-friendly docs you could get in with for your primary care. Tell them I suggested you give them a call them.
Good luck & hope you're feeling better soon!
Vickie J.
PS - I was told I could take over the counted meds for cold/flu symptoms but to be sure they did not contain aspirin or motrin-type meds (many do). We can only take meds with Tylenol ingredients but regular decongestants & antihistamines are OK.
