Does anyone know how long it takes after insurance approval and initial consultation to have the surgery with Dr. Lord in Pensacola. My consult is scheduled and insurance paperwork will only have approx 48 hours for approval (dont have to have 6 month supervised weight loss) and all is covered just need medical neccessity. With that being said I am just trying to figure out how long after I see him before surgery date. If anyone has had surgery with him in the last few months please let me know how long after insurance approval was your surgery date. Is he booked out for months for surgeries? Thanks!

Morning Jean, I have heard excellent things about Dr. Lord. Even though I chose Dr. Nye at Baptist. I'm racking whats left of my brain about time after insurance approval. I met with Dr. Nye in late February 2004. Paperwork and testing were complete by mid march and I had surgery April 5th, 2004. Regardless if it a week or 3 months the wait will be worth the reward.. Life is so different now since losing 250 pounds. I'm in Pensacola as well so if you have any other questions drop me an e-mail I'll be glad to try and help. Jim Bouler [email protected]

I too had Dr. Nye. I started my process in May of 2006 but one of my insurances wanted 6 months of supervised weight lose program. Well at the end of September I dropped that insurance. Well at the middle of October I called Dr Nye's office and they made me do more blood work for insurance. Well I did that the begining of Nov. and was approved a few days latter then my surgery was scheduled Nov. 28th. Once approved Dr. Nye's office does the surgery typically within 2 weeks.

Jean, first let me tell you that you have chosen the best doctor and the best hospital in town, Dr. Lord has a wonderful program here and a great aftercare program. Have you started going to the support group meetings yet? If not, I would encourage you to, you get a wealth of knowledge from them. I had surgery July 19th and I have lost 81 pounds. I have never felt better. The nurses on the Bariatric floor are great. Dr. Lord is getting so busy that it may start taking longet to schedule surgeries, but when I had it, I was approved at the beginning of June and had surgery the 19th of July, Jan(the program manager) should be able to tell you about how long when you go for your consult. Please email me if you have anymore questions.

Jean, Dr. Nye performed my surgery 4 1/2 years ago. I have had no problems. It took approximately 2 1/2 months from consult to surgery. I take exception to the previous poster. Dr. Nye and Dr. Lord are both excellent doctors and they both have excellent aftercare programs, great people on staff and have had great results. They also have superb support groups to attend. It is a personal (and sometimes insurance!) choice on which you choose, in the area. Dr. Nye has been in the area for many years, Dr. Lord practiced in Virgina before opening his clinic here. They are both very good at what they do. Best of luck.
