Having RNY Gastric By Pass In Mexico
Karen,
I can't give you any infor on the doctor you are asking about, however, I am also in the North Florida area. I live near Chipley and work in Panama City Beach. Feel free to holler at me any time, and my best thoughts and wishes for a very successful and uneventful surgery.
P.S. I had my RNY done at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, FL on 4/26/06.
Jerry
Thanks Jerry for responding. I would love to have my surgery here but it would be a 2 year working process with my insurance and I'm just not interested in waiting that long to get it all going.
Pensacola also is setting up a good Bariactric Center. I went to one of their seminars and that is how I found out how long it will take with my insurance.
My surgery is Jan 10, 07 exactly 3 weeks from todayl
How have you done since yours? Did you have a drain. My cousin had hers in March in Jackson MS and she had a drain. So I'm hoping no drain for me but that is up to the doc. Do you know of any support group in the area that meet and are willing to accept people who don't have their surgery with them. There is one in Pensacola but from what I've been told the surgeon their had to do your surgery.

I also read a post where you felt you needed after care? Or was I mistaken. What needs to you feel you have.
I do have a question. on the protein drinks, I've been sampling some, I noticed they had sugar and sugar alcohol. Is there a certain level we should stick to, it was not much like 2 or 3 grams but it did get me to thinking.
what did you find so yuck about mexico. Wow 40 pound in less than one month girl you are going at it and you keep it up
hugs

Karen,
You are most certainly very welcome. I can understand your dilema with the insurance company. I am very thankful that I was fortunate enough to not have any problems getting approval through my insurance. It has now been almost 8 months since my surgery and to date I have lost 115 pounds. I started out at 325 and dropped down to about 315 while on pre-surgery diet. I haven't weighed myself since early last week, but I was 210 pounds at that time. I am really looking forward to dropping in to onederland soon.
I just recently received information on a support group here in Panama City. They meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Healthplex on HWY 77, and although I don't know for certain, I don't believe there is any sort of requirement regarding where your surgery was done or by whom.
I will be praying for and sending my best wishes for an uneventful surgery and a very speedy recovery. I am very happy to share any of my experiences with you that you feel might be helpful so just ask. I am also quite certain that I am not the only one. The people here are great at supporting each other.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year, and I will hold a spot on the Loser's Bench for you. Keep us posted on how things go.
Best Wishes,
Jerry
Thanks Jerry, If you attend the support group meeting ask to make sure and once I'm back and settleing in I will attend. I'm eager to get on the losers bench and wished I 'd scheduled earlier. I thought I would have problems getting my dogs into the kennel I use for while I'm gone, and I would have because they are small and book up qickly near the holidays.
I sure hoping for no events in Mexico except fast healing and maybe a bit of boredom while I walk the halls.
thanks
Karen

Is Dr Nye a local doctor. I would have had it local but to impatient the time for insurance to get cleared if they ever did. So ho ho, it's off to Mexico.
I hear in is yuck, I've been to several parts of Mexico that were not but this is not the first time that I heard the area around the hospital was not a vacation type area and not much to see.
I go to Pensacola a lot, shopping of course. love Cordova Mall and Stein Mart, Barnes and NOrble, and Books a Million. I'm lucky that I cna jump on 10 and hit Pensacola or jump on south 85 and go to Ft Walton or Destin.
