What should I expect after having a panni and abdominoplasty in the hospital? Will I have a foley catheter and or an N/G tube? How many drains will be there? How bad will the pain be. I will also be having a couple hernias from the RNY surgery repaired too. Anyone's experiences will be appreciated. I will be in Pensacola,Florida with Dr. James Frost doing my surgery at West Florida Hospital. How did you like the hospital care you got at West Florida?

Hi Margaret, I was the opposite of Alexa, had a foley, 4 drains 2 front, 2 back but I had no pain at all, walked out of the hospital on my own (nurse walked me out) and never took one pill after I left. I was definetly uncomfortable not being able to sit up but I did walk as soon as the foley came out next morning before I was released. I must have a high tolerance for pain or maybe its just that I am a control freak and don't want meds to alter how I feel, my preference...I didn't have a problem after RNY or breast reduction/lift either. I'm sure they will give you meds in case you need them. Worse thing I encountered was being on my hip traveling to see my dr twice post surgery to have drains removed. Everyone is different, come back and let us know how it went.
