um just a question... as a fresh post op also i have heard that our bodies can only absorb 20 - 25 gms protein at a time so the rest is a waste... have you heard this?

Nah, that's an old wives' tale, being spread by old wives!!! You can only absorb about 500 mg. of calcium at a time, but that's not true of protein.

Hi Kristen~ Thanks for all your advice. I did order the Nectar Fuzzy Navel and I do like it. I went to my 1st post op appt yesterday and I am down 23 #'s, I was shocked. I am now on pureed and am having a much easier time getting in my protein. Thanks again for all your suggestions. Take care, Kelli

Don't worry so much about your protein intake right now. Staying hydrated is your main goal. We have protein reserves for at least a month or so before we can get depleted. Just focus on hydration Donna

Kelli, since you're only 9 days post-op, I'm wondering if you are now lactose intolerant?? Are you having problems only with dairy products, or is everything giving you a fit? Lots of people develop some lactose intolerance post-op and some of it resolves and some does not. Good luck!
