Hi I am 9 days post op and I am having a hard time with my protein intake. I have a whey protein and in the first few days I was adding it to cream of wheat and to pudding. Now, for some reason I am not able to take it. I am not sure if I am just sick of it or what, but at this point I can't seem to take it. Does anyone have any suggestions to getting extra protein in? I am on the "full" liquids part of the plan. I have been having broth, strained cream soups (low fat), sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, unsweetened apple juice, water, sugar free popsickles, cream of wheat and hot decaf tea. Any suggestions would be great!!! So far I think I am doing well. I am keeping hydrated which in the hospital they really stressed to not get dehydrated. I am feeling the need to want to have something crunchie, but I am OK with biting my popsickles....I am following my rules no matter what....But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....I can't believe I am now on the losing side. It is hard to believe all I had to do to get to the point of having surgery and now I am 9 days post op. Unbelievable!!!! Thanks for all input~Kelli

Hey there I am 10 days out myself and the way I get my protein is that I make a shake I am using whey protien too and it is vanilla flav. I use sugar free Ice Cream and a little milk and make a shake every morning! I hope this helps you. Hey where in Florida are you?

Hi Christina~ Thanks for your response. You are not having any trouble with sugar free ice cream? It is actually not on my "approved" list of items to have. I am from New Port Richey, which is appox 18 miles north of Tampa. Thanks~

nope no problems and my nutritionist said it was fine as long as it was sugar free and it is only temp until I can eat protein bars instead.

Hi there, congratulations on your surgery!!!! Have you tried putting protein powder in yogurt? I ate that a lot in the beginning, actually still do enjoy it. I still make sugar free pudding and put in a scoop of unflavored powder, made some yesterday in fact. Early on I ate A LOT of cottage cheese, it's a good source of protein too. I had a rough start and for a while there it seemed like cottage cheese was the only thing I could eat without fear of feeling sick. Are you drinking any protein shakes? I was on Isopure in the beginning, then started ordering samples and started enjoying all kinds of flavors. Now I'm hooked on the AchievOne drinks! I tried a sample this morning of the Elite Cafe Mocha - DELICIOUS!!! I need to order a tub of that ASAP! It was really good. Sounds like you are doing well so far! Just follow your doctor's plan, stay positive, continue drinking your water, and you'll do fine! It is truly amazing to finally be post op! I still remember feeling so glad the surgery was over and so excited about the coming months, watching the weight disappear! My sweetie lives north of Tampa also. One of us will be moving hopefully soon, so we can be together more - like 24/7 LOL!! You take care and keep up the good work! Jeanne in Miami

Hi Kelli, At two years post-op, I am still hooked on Syntrax Nectar, Fuzzy Navel flavor. I mix one scoop in a quart of water (the stuff melts rather than mixes in the water!) and then I add one of the Crystal Light To Go tubes, Sunrise Orange flavor. I order my Nectar from http://www.bariatriceating.com. I also used to take a scoop of unflavored unjury and put it on my cutting board every morning. For the rest of the day I would sprinkle just a bit into everything I ate or drank. Voila! 25 more grams of protein without having to drink a shake. I get my Unjury from work, but you can order from http://www.unjury.com. Finally, for those days when it is getting late and I am not on track protein-wise, I'll drink a Profect tube so I won't be up in the bathroom all night. Profect is 25 grams of protein in 2.7 fluid ounces. I order Profect from http://www.protica.com. I like the red berry flavor best, but they have a four-pack sampler you can try. Congratulations on your surgery!! HTH, Kristen

Kristen, just to add to your suggestions, you can actually do one-stop shopping at BariatricEating.com because they carry a fabulous unflavored protein AND a bullet with (count 'em) 42 big grams of protein!!!
