help!!!
Hi! You are experiencing exactly what I'm afraid is going to happen to me! I'm having my gastric bypass on Dec. 13th, and that's when my period is due. I'm going to start taking the pill tomorrow to hopefully postpone my period a week or two after my surgery, but I don't know if it will work or not. Please go back to the message board and read the postings under "birth control question" . Many folks replied to my posting when I had a similar question, and they gave some really good advice. But to sum it up, as one person wrote me, these folks in the hospital are professionals and have dealt with just about everything, and will help you through this too. I wish you the best of luck. Please post as soon as you can after your surgery. I'm anxious to hear how everything went, and I know it will definitely help me prepare for mine the following week! Thanks!
Do not fret. My cycle was due to come on as well...and it did. The next day after surgery. For one thing, even if you are close to your cycle it will probably come on. The doctor have them inject you several times a day with a blood thinner in your stomach which has a side effect fo making your period come on and REALLy heavy. But it wasn't that bad. The nurse gave me a HUGE pad that looked like a diaper and a pair of net panites to keep it in place.....what surprised me was that they fit my big butt
It is not bad. Now one thing that I did do was start my birth control pills right after I got out of the hospital ( my doctor said I could).
You will do fine. I am so proud for you. I had my surgery Oct. 6th and have lost 50 pounds as of yesterday (my two month mark).
Be blessed.
Michelle

Hi Thelma,
As I responded to another last week, almost every woman has her cycle whilst in the hospital recovering from surgery. It's not something that is uncommon, and the professionals in the hospital have seen it all - it is no big deal. Let the office know, just in case they have a concern with your pre-op lab work.
I'll be thinking of you this Thursday!
