I am so sorry about your weight gain. I highly recommend the Duodeanal switch surgery and the RNY can be revised to the DS. Dorothy, please visit the duodeanal switch message board! The hard part will be finding a Florida surgeon. Medicare will pay for the DS. Good luck to you! Dianne

Thanks to everyone of you for your support and concern. I finally feel like I have friends who understand. I have decided on the lap band as it is minimally invasive and can be adjusted, if necessary, at any time. Now I just have to pray that one of these financial companies will give me a loan.I decided to go with Kristen's doctors at US Bariatrics. I know one thing though. I am going to keep in touch with everyone on the board. I will need the support both before and after the procedure. Take care and I appreciate all of you. I will keep everyone posted! Dorothy

Hi Dorothy, If you have thoroughly researched both a revision to a band and a revision to the DS and have actually chosen the band (!) Then I wish you all the luck in the world! But I would urge you to truly make that decision an informed one by dropping by the DS board and finding out what some of the people who have been where you are right now, have done and why they have done it! My DS was done minimally invaseivley with a laproscopic surgery. I returned to work full time, working as an RN, doing patient care, with no problems exactly two weeks aftersurgery. Consider if you would rather be sure you will lose the weight and keep it off, or if you are willihng to trade that for "a minimally invasive procedure. Whatever you chose, I wish you the best and I hope that your weight loss will improve your health conditions!

I realize I'm coming in very late to this discussion, but you know the old addage, if you hear hooves, think horses and not zebras?? Well, from what I've seen, gaining weight back USUALLY means eating too much of the wrong thing - in a word, simple white carbs. Are you eating bread, pasta, rice or potatoes? By any chance are you drinking with your meals?? These 2 habits lead to weight regain so easily!! I'm not saying you don't need a revision as I don't know anything about you, but eating poor food choices is more commonly the reason for a gain rather than a surgical failure.

Hi, I had my surgery in 2000 and went from 280 lbs. to 145 lbs. I then had a baby 3 yrs. later and gain only 5 lbs. after giving birth. Since then I have put on now an extra 40 lbs. I had to learn how to eat more in order to gain some weight with the pregnancy also, stress, fustration, boredom, and everything else like eating all the wrong foods have made me put on the weight after baby. I still can't eat large amounts of food but, know that I can finish a whole hamburger with fries in over 1 hr. by taking a couples of bites and putting it aside & then going back a little later to finish a little more. I know that if I go back to eating healthy foods and exercising I can lose the weight. I know that nothing in life is easy and when you want something you have to work hard at it in order to achieve your goals. I wish you lots of luck and say to yourself I can do it & I am going to do it in order to lose the weight. Remember it is not going to be easy but, you can do it
