4 weeks post op
Well it's been 4 weeks yesterday since my surgery and I have lost 28 pounds, keep reaching for the extra 2 to make it an even 30. Doesn't seem to be coming off too fast this last week. I think I already need my first fill because I don't feel any restriction anymore when I eat.
I think I'm feeling completely normal now and I'm eating "normal" food, except breads, beef, pork, rice and a few other things. I had a little bit of everything at thanksgiving dinner. About a fifth of what I would have had without the lapband.
I haven't had any soda since my surgery and surprisingly I'm not craving it. It's hard to just drink plain water so I find it difficult to keep hydrated. I find 1/2 diluted gaterade or sugar free punch more palatable. I don't like tea so that's not something I would drink and I'm starting to develop a hatred for protein drinks.
Hi
I too was 4 weeks post op RNY and I too am not properly hydrated. I started getting calcium and potasium defecent so Im adding 4 oz of OJ to a 20 oz bottle of water and its going down much easier.
Ive only lost 20 lbs but Im so grateful as I have not lost weight in about 5 years. I had about an ounce of turkey 1 teaspoon of stuffing a tablespoon of mashed potatoes and some turnips and 1 green bean. I also baked a sugar free pumpkin cheese pie low calorie and low acrb that made the day seem so normal.
It was so nice enjoying the company instead of obsessing over the food. Good luck to you
Hi Juan,
I am 3 weeks post op and Dr. Erbella did my surgery too! A suggestion about your getting your water in...........try crystal light...it tastes good and you can count it toward your water requirement. Instead of the protein drink you could have 2% cottage cheese....it would give you some variety...very high in protein and it is good for you. That is what I do and it works great, you actually feel like you have something to eat too. I don't think anybody likes drinking their protein!!
Hope this helps!

You don't want to be drinking Gatorade or straight juices (dilute them if thats all you have). Crystal Light is a much better choice if you grow tired of water. And Walmart has their own brand with many more flavors and much cheaper than Crystal Light.
And your all brand newbies, when eatting stay with your surgeon's plan of Proteins.
And remember sip, sip, sip! Do not use a straw either (too much suction can do damage), too much air intake with sucking.
Hi Judith
When was the last time you got a fill? Call Dr. Erbella's office, I believe if your not losing 2 lbs per week you may need a fill from what I was told.
Here's a place you can find recipes for WLS
http://store.bariatriceating.com/featuredrecipe.html
A fill is for people that have had the lap-band WLS. A needle is used to inject saline in to the access port below the skin. By adding or removing the amount of saline the tightness of the lap-band is adjusted creating more or less restriction.
